ugh... since my mother was completely grey by 35, I figured it was just genes, but my grey streaks can't be completely blamed on her, I guess. But shouldn't I be able to blame all my problems on my mother?? ;-) I feel like I'm betraying my generation *lol* My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75 Amount Saved: $20.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 35 Seconds: 4

Wonder if Clairol has Stock in the Cigarette companys.........LOL While genetics is the most common cause of gray hair, other things can contribute to graying. Lack of B vitamins (particularly pantothenic acid, poor nutrition, anemia, (lack of iron in the blood), thyroid problems, and even smoking can contribute to graying. Smokers are believed to gray at an earlier rate because smoking depletes oxygen in the bodies tissues. And if you needed yet another reason to quit smoking, there is new evidence that smokers are four times more likely to go gray at a younger age. Cigarette smoking may lead to premature gray hair and baldness, according to a study by the Leigh Infirmary published in the British Medical Journal. Men and women smokers were four times as likely to grow gray hair as nonsmokers, and men who smoke are twice as likely to go bald as men who did not smoke.
