New Quitter...

Hi Leroux, Today is the make of the first week. CONGRULATIONS!!!! You just experienced, (in my mind) the worst week ever during the quit. It will slowly starting getting better from here. I know when Im around someone smoking now and not bothered by them; its like small victories to me. Once you start looking at others that smoke and think that poor soul you have won. This is the way non-smoker looked at all of us before. CONGRULATIONS AGAIN and keep strong and healthy. I never experience side effects more than some vivid dreams. There was another post some time back and some experienced up stomachs and sleeplessness. Everyone seem to be different. Took Chantix for four weeks and started Monday without. So far, there hasnt been any unbearable craving. Not for sure how long the medication stay in the bodies system, but guess I will find out sometime this week. Kinda miss the dreams though My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 469 Amount Saved: $80.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 7 Mins: 54 Seconds: 20

Changing, The cravings havent been bad since week one and I wanted to see if this was the medication or motivation. I keep a positive attitude and I know I will not back slide. From what I can understand, Chantix helps reduce the cravings/addictions has you body goes through withdraws. I dont feel I had withdraws from nicotine since about day 6-7, now its just craving, which is more habit for me. I believe weather its a patch, gum or pill, there will be some withdraw from the method itself and I feel Im ready to face this now and get this all behind me. Everyone will be different and the worst I foresee now is an edgy attitude for a short period. The family and employees have all been warned, but so far on day four without medication, no one has lost their life. Just kidding. But it hasnt been bad. The only one that has been in danger of an explosion of bad emotions was the kid in the drive-through window at KFC last night. I dont have much patience with ignorance, so my feeling would have been the same even when I smoked. To my surprise and his good fortune, I was able to drive away. Another Chantix quitter here. I'm on day 42 and my craving have not been bad at all. Nothing I can't handle. Stay here and keep informed on any problems you might have. I have been super happy with my quit. Tonight I am craving bad but thats because I am really pissed off at my husband. But I still won't smoke. I am just waiting to hear replys from my HELP I sent out. You can do this, the chantix works wonders, I work in a pharmacy and have nothing but good feedback from the customers. I took Chantix for 3 weeks before I stoped. I would stop and cheat with one cig or puff for 3 week I torchered myself. Finally figured it out. You can never puff ever. Chantix helps a lot but you still have to quit yourself. Chantix quitter here as well! Just remember NOPE----Not One Puff Ever! The cravings will get easier every day....but there is no magic cure. Stay strong and focused on quitting! You can do it and Chantix makes the experience bearable! You have quit...don't ever make the mistake of going back! Hadenuf - Your positive attitude is inspiring! Also glad to hear that stopping the Chantix didn't send you into a tailspin. That's something I'm a bit worried about...but one day at a time! Keep up the great work! I can't tell if I'm having any side effects from Chantix....hard to separate withdrawal from side effects. But, the only side effect I had the first week of Chantix (when I was still smoking) was sleepiness. Yeah - the dreaming part is a very positive side effect of Chantix! Hadenuf....why did you stop the Chantix after only 4 weeks?
