Golferman - Thank you for this post. I have often thought that if they had a detox center for Smokers like they have for drinkers that I would have admitted myself in a second. Many alcoholics have said that it is easier to quit drinking than to quit smoking. It's good that gradually more support is being offered for people who are trying to quit. I AM SO GRATEFUL that I have the benefit of the internet where I have access to support every single day. I honestly don't know if I could have made it through the bad days with SCC. Smoking is not a choice....but quitting is! I really appreciated your post...Thank you Windy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 717 Amount Saved: $175 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 41 Seconds: 10

".... So the next time someone makes a silly comment to you about your quit and that you should be over it by now, remind them that smoking is not a choice, but an addiction to nicotine and that you are doing your best. ..." Great post, Golfer. Up here in Ontario, everything has been smoke free for a while now. And if I'm not mistaken, you have to be nine metres away from the entranceway to a building if it has an overhang. I think 9 metres is approx. 26 ft. ( I could be wrong though.) Anyway, the crackdown here was massive. And so is the price!!!! With Christmas coming, I can sure use the extra money. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Absolutely right! At 60 plus days the habit has gone but the addiction persists. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we knew that at day X or day Y the addiction would go away. It is a drug a horroble addictive drug and it only took me 50 years to find out! It is amazing....the old "should be over it by now" thing. I like the slapping part! Smoking not allowed even in Kentucky.....pretty ominous I'd say. :gasp: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 240 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,613 Amount Saved: $2160 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 11 Mins: 44 Seconds: 1
