Mental Illness & Prayer

There are of course many forms of prayer.  If used as an affirmation or as a "rational response" to combat the automatic negative thoughts,  then it becomes a supportive positive message to one's self.

Though I would love to see the statistics on how many people make a desperate prayer when they are really in trouble, even if they are otherwise non-religious.

Myth or Fact: A person can recover from a mental illness by turning his or her thoughts positively and with prayer.

Fact-Recovery is possible when the person receives the necessary treatment and support. Spirituality can also be an important source of strength for some individuals.
