Do antidepressants have a long lasting effect?

Hi Madara, Fellow members will be by soon with their thoughts on this. Please though consider consulting with your health care provider about these medication concerns. Your local pharmacist can also be an excellent resource for information on medications. Casey _____________________________ The PC Support Team

Hi again! I am off the medication at the moment for a month already (I took Cipralex) and things are quite OK. It is some adrenaline or slight inner anxiety that I feel. My question is- do antidepressants provide a long lasting effect or is it a short term one? By that I mean, if I took Cipralex that is one of the SSRI's and supplies the brain with serotonine what happens when this medication has been came off? Has it supplied the brain with the necessary amount of serotonine (and if yes, for how much period) or does the brain gradually lose that serotonine? Thank you for sharing knowledge!
