What A Beautiful Day To Be A Non Smoker

15 years ago 0 2778 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey Q!!!

I'm definitely in total agreement!!!  Yesterday the front came through and it was REALLY nasty!!  I am especially thankful that I am free from the addiction, because I would be having to hobble outside on crutches in that nastiness!!!  I'm staying nice and warm!!!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

What a great sentiment.  I too look at all the people (the same ones on a daily basis)  that walk past my desk at least 10 times a day to go out for a cigarette.  They always complain about how cold it is when they come in (like I did to) and they smell horrible.  Its even worse when its cold, don't you agree?  anyway, it reminds me everyday how thankful I am that I can stay inside where its warm and not kill myself on purpose anymore.  Its so wonderful when we can have this revelation, its when you are truely free.

I agree also.  Who in there right mind would want to stand in the cold, with a north wind howling and blowing out your light and you keep trying and trying until you get the dam thing lit and you stand there freezing, inhaling the cold air and smoke into your lungs.  Sounds like and addict   I have and am sure many of you have been there many times.  It is cold here and a wonderful reminder why I have quit.  Thanks Mr. Q.

hey Mr Q it's funny you say this today because my husband and I went Christmas shopping at the mall today. It was real cold with a blustery wind and it was raining too. As we left we bumped into a friend of ours who was just going outside to smoke. I had forgotten how we had to do things like that, and I looked in disbelief as she stood in that awful weather trying to light up whilst battling with the wind and rain. Theres no enjoyment in that is pure addiction and the need to feed a habit.
So thanks for reminding me too, even with that weather it was a beautiful day to be a non smoker!

And by beautiful day to be a non smoker I mean what a horrible day to be a smoker.  It's cold, I mean it's really friggin cold here today.  I know there are other places that are colder, like Antarctica perhaps.  The kind of day where it would be cold even if there were no wind, but there is wind, and a lot of it, and as I pass the smokers on my way into my workplace I can't help but think a couple thoughts.

1) I can't believe that I was ever that addicted that I would torture myself like that.
2) I just felt bad for them because I have been in their shoes.

For every veteren quitter and every new quitter remember these days and remember how I feel not even 5 months quit.  It's what I would imagine it would feel like if I escaped from prison after being there for years even after I had accepted that I may never leave.  Every day is a gift and all your really need to do is put the cigarettes down and accept that you are already free.
