My dog died today

 = broken heart.

Rubygem, I totally understand how you feel - and, knowing me, I'd have probably gone back, too.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry Ruby. Pets are so much a part of our lives. I do understand. I  do hope you realize that smoking won't make the pain go away. Smoking never seems to help any situation get any better.
I do hope you will come back soon and give it another try.

Rubygem, I'm so sorry that your dog died, and I know you must feel absolutely lost. However, you will not find yourself in a cigarette. We should not fool ourselves into thinking we can just get back on the wagon later. How hard was it to do it this time? I blew a 3 year quit twenty years ago. It took years before I was able to put together another sincere attempt. I'm not saying that it'll take you years. All I'm saying is do not underestimate the power of addiction. Do what you need to do to stay the course. Treat yourself really, really well right now. You're too special to hand over to the demon.

I am so sorry to hear about your doggie's death, Rubygem.  The death of a beloved pet is hard enough to deal with under normal circumstances, and I can only imagine how hard it would be for a new quitter.  Rusty is right, there are a number of good sites dealing with pet grief.  The best I have found is petloss.com. They even have a section where you can post a tribute to your pet.  I have done that before and found it very helpful.  Grieve you loss and come back as soon as you can; we will be here for you.

I am so, so, so sorry. I lost a dear pet just two months ago so I know how horribly sad and painful it is. Take time for you to heal -- and it will take some time. I might suggest that you search for websites about grieving for pets. There are some very helpful ones. Again, I am so sorry.

My dog, Maverick, died today.  I am sorry but I started smoking again.  I thought about not smoking but as he lay there dying before my eyes, I couldn't be strong.  Maybe I'll try again.  Right now it doesn't matter, nothing does.
