Hi Chris and Welcome, Black licorice works for me as a diversion from gum. I cut the long sticks in two...(can't eat it all the time, though). Use it when the most strenuous cravings happen. the taste itself steers me away from the wanting a cigarett and then I drink water. Every time I drink a bottle of water I tell myself I'm flushing cigarette toxins down the tubes. :)Good luck and hang in there!!!auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 255 Amount Saved: $24.35 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 53 Seconds: 4

40 hours is awesome! Now you know you can do it. Keep taking one hour at a time and no matter what don't smoke. You jaw may hurt but your lungs are getting happy! Hi Chris, this is the beginning of a whole new way of life for you. You can stay smoke free one day at a time..maybe right now it feels like one hour at a time; but that is okay. As Lady said, Your lungs are getting happy! The program will teach you about the withdrawal symptoms that you can expect, so you can be ready for them. Try and avoid smokers for a while, if you need to. You can do it. Congratulations! Congratulations on your quit. Read and post here all you can, the support is awesome. Reward yourself for each milestone, 1 hr. 1 day etc. You can do this and you are going to love being a quitter. Its not easy but its worth it!!! chrispw, 40 hours is magic. I'm so proud of you! Are you working the program to the left? The workbook will really help you. Don't chew the gum so much, I think. Chew it a couple of times to soften it and then "park" it in the side of your mouth.
