Thank you so much everyone. I know that my lungs are healing because at first I was coughing up dark stuff and it is slowly getting clearer. If I am still coughing after 3 mths or I suddenly turn around and start to cough more or if I see an unsual color,  I will go to the Dr. Thank you all so much for your concern and applause.

Deb it's so great to make it through the first month!
Really, I'm proud of you and your determination.  You've already helped lots of people just by staying smoke free and checking in.  Smoking masks a lot of health problems, so if you have any concerns about the coughing please go to your doctor and get it checked out.

Keep kicking ash!

Good job, Deb......keep pedalling one day at a time.
You have nothing to be discouraged about.  Be proud that you did not smoke today.  Resolve the same tomorrow!!!

Keep the quit,

deb,

Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are doing.

The side effects you have reported can be pretty common. As you mentioned, your lungs are working overtime, ridding themselves of a lot of toxins. Even those theese symptoms may be discouraging, you seem very determined to make this quit last. You can do this!

Stay strong deb!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Just wanted to check in and to tell everyone that I made it over that last hill. It was a tough one. I knew that I couldn't hear about anyone smoking again because the craving was driving me crazy!! I am having a hard time some days, other days I do ok. Most days I am very sleepy. My lungs are trying to clean out and some days they actually hurt. I do expect some discomfort after 40+ years but sometimes I get discouraged. I am still wanting a cig pretty often but know that I won't go back. I want to thank every one of you who that has offered me words of praise and encouragement. Without you guys holding my bicycle up, I will never learn how to ride by myself. Thanks for being there!!  Someday, I hope that I will be able to hold up someone elses.
Deb
