CIGARETTE PRICE RISE IN THE UK BUDGET

I know price is a deterrent to me. Cigarettes cost about $9.50 on average in Chicago. I have a choice: I can smoke or pay rent.

Thanks for sharing Karren.

A pack has cost between 10 and 13 dollars in Canada for awhile now and you are right a lot of people quit because of it. If it makes people quit then it is a good thing.  What a waste of money indeed!

Today was the UK's budget day, and the Chancellor has put 37p on to the price of a pack of cigarettes. This must make them almost £7.00 for a pack of 20? Which is almost $10.50 a pack! In all honesty I don't know how much a pack is these days,I had the £7.00 figure from the BBC web site as they were just over £5.00 when I quit four years ago. But, wow, that's some price hike, and I would imagine a lot of UK smokers will be hanging up their habits. I honestly don't know how people here afford to smoke I really don't, what a waste of money!
