Weekend Plans - Friends and Smoking

17 years ago 0 948 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thank you everyone for the support and suggestions. I am going to get on the computer and pull this site up when I get there, because I have use of their computers. I talked to my friend today and he was told he should quit smoking because of his diabetes. His doctor gave him a prescription for Chantix. So of course I used the opportunity to plug my quit and how I can help him. So this weekend I am going to push the idea even more on him and his wife. Hopefully he will do what his doctor has asked him to do. Thanks again, and everyone have a great weekend!!!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 566 Amount Saved: $110 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 34 Seconds: 26

Angelcapp, Many members have found it helpful to bring along a coping strategy or two and to have an emergency plan such as leaving early just in case temptation becomes too much. Planning a reward for passing this test can also be helpful. Have fun! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

angelcapp, If/when you get to a point where you REALLY want to smoke and don't think you can make it, think about how proud you will be tomorrow morning when you get to come here and say that you made it through! We'll all be SO proud of you too! Have fun! Crave the Quit! be sure to take clothes that are washable....cause they are gonna stink from the smoke when you get home. When the friends light up, think how daft they look sucking on a bunch of burning weeds.....step outside and breath deep......cause you CAN! ;) Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1904 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 76,182 Amount Saved: $10852.8 Life Gained: Days: 251 Hrs: 4 Mins: 11 Seconds: 26

Angel - It's going to be tough, but I know that you can do this. Maybe you should copy your Quit Meter onto a little piece of paper and bring it with you. If a craving hits - just look at that meter! Remember - smoking is not an option, so don't bother debating with the Nicodemon. We'll all be there with you in spirit cheering you on! (and not :eg: Nicodemon) You have your Hubby to lean on just a bit (and you know if anyone is going to support your quit...it will be your non-smoking spouse) have a great time auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,075 Amount Saved: $384.75 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 5 Mins: 6 Seconds: 7

Good luck! I know how ya feel, my daughter smokes and I haven't seen much of her in the past couple of weeks, am missing her, but need to be extra strong when she's around. Hopefully, I am being an example to her. NOPE Keep the quit! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 463 Amount Saved: $189.9 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 5 Mins: 37 Seconds: 5

Wish me luck I am going to a good friends house this weekend for movies and some laughs. Both of them smoke, so I am going to have to be very strong. I have little by little been hanging around smokers, most of my friends do smoke, just to make sure that I can handle it. So far so good! I just keep my mind focused on the "I don't want cancer" aspect and that seems to get me through. Hopefully my husband who is going with me will also keep me strong, he has never been a smoker. Really want to be around my friends again, its too bad most of them still do smoke. I have to remember that I can change me, I cannot change anyone else!
