Hi gang As you know I have been in Spain for 3 weeks(I told you often enough!!) The antismoking feeling out there has grown enormously this year. Seemingly any bar/restaurant over 100 sq metres cannot and does not allow smoking(They have even banned the cigarette machines) So whereas we used to eat outside because my wife hates smoke we now watch the smokers go out for their fix!! Thought you would be interested. It has not come to England yet but it cant be far away.... Phil ,I am proud to say I have crossed to the other side, I am not cocky about it always vigilant as this is a sneaky addiction. Life is good as a non-smoker, you'll get there don't worry, you're on your way and doing good. One day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 119 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,791 Amount Saved: $476 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 18 Mins: 0 Seconds: 31

Phil, Next summer in England. April in Wales. Scotland already has the ban as does the Republic of Ireland. If England includes N Ireland, then that's the whole of UK and Ireland smoke-free in restaurants and bars! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 238 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,150 Amount Saved: 1785 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 17 Mins: 39 Seconds: 57

The times...they are a changin'! Phil- be real proud of your getting ahead of the game. There really is no point in smoking anymore; not that there ever really was, but we all know what I mean. The biggest reason for my quitting was just that- I couldn't smoke anywhere anymore. What's the point? You're doing great! I saw a post you made earlier where you were sort of awed by the amount of time an older member was quit. I can assure you this member is probably more in awe of you because it does get a LOT easier over time and this member isn't having to contend with that now.....but we all remember how the earlier parts were. Kudos to you and all the new quitters! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 234 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,377 Amount Saved: $2106 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 12 Mins: 20 Seconds: 15

Thanks for sharing! It is great to see a global awareness of this addiction. It is even better to see each country trying to do their part :) Keep Strong, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
