Consequences of Stress

Sleep problems (the winner), headaches (you are not alone Pete :)), constipation, high colesterol, impulsivity, skin and vision problems: These are a few I can remember now...

Headaches, headaches and more headaches!

A sure barometer of my stress levels. And, of course, struggling through the day with a headache compounds the stress - it makes it hard to concentrate, to work, to stay in a good temper, and then to relax in any beneficial way. I tend to just sleep more (luckily for me, I can always sleep) because it's an escape.

We’ve talked about anger, stress and disputes. We will now be discussing specific stress management strategies in a variety of settings & contexts.

Learning stress management skills is part of having a healthy lifestyle. It is just as important as learning how to eat well.  Exposure to stress over long periods of time has been linked to the development of:

•    Frequent headaches
•    Upset stomach
•    Diarrhea or constipation
•    Lowered immune system
•    Disturbed sleeping patterns
•    High blood sugar
•    High blood pressure
•    Increased cholesterol

Does this sound familiar to anyone? How do you feel or know when you're stressed?
