Wildcat, It may just feel like an emotion but multiple processes in your body are being activated, namely the fight or flight response. Your body also produces cortisol. The combination seems to be the culprits for ensuing damage. I would encourage you & Eliza to keep tuning in on Thursday & Sunday. We're kicking off an entire series on stress. We're going to be making a stress plan, learning many new ways to cope & relieve stress and finally we'll be learning how to deal & manage stress at work. In closing, I'd like to remind you that everyone struggles with stress and coping. Don't be too hard on yourself. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

hi danielle, I usually just ignore the back-acks, head-acks, over-eating and go on to acid relux, migraines, and nightmares... I have a hard time convincing myself that something as effemere as a feeling, a mood, an energy change is a serious symptome. It is just an inconvience... buck-up girl and get back into the game!!! also, stresses are part of life and I do not manage good nor bad stress at all well... so I ignore them all! As a child and teen, i had to respond to my father's illness; bipolar. To survive I had to adapt to his moods and satisfy his demands, i did not exist in that environment - i survived. so now I am learning about feeling. I am learning about the physical responses that are related to those feelings. I am learning to controle the intensity so I am not overwhelmed. it is hard to be an adult with a family and go throught the lessons that my children are learning.

Learning stress management skills is part of having a healthy lifestyle. It is just as important as learning how to eat well. Exposure to stress over long periods of time has been linked to the development of: • Frequent headaches • Upset stomach • Diarrhea or constipation • Lowered immune system • Disturbed sleeping patterns • High blood sugar • High blood pressure • Increased cholesterol Does this sound familiar to anyone?
