Ashley,
We've only begun to scratch the surface, compared to other illnesses which are easier to cure and diagnose

So if people will live with a change of life style with heart disease or diabetes why do they balk at life changes for mental diseases. Is this why I'm successful. I had to change my life to live with Arthritis. Not something I wanted to do but I did. I had to change my life to accommodate CBT. You don't change CBT to accommodate your life.

Yesterday my therapist asked what I was at on a scale of one to ten. I said a bit better than an eight. She said what do you want and I said a nine or better sometimes. She said why not a ten. I smiled and said nobody gets a ten at least not consistently. She said yes, nobody gets a ten. few get past an eight. Eight is good. Sorry, but the damage is done all you get now is a patch job all be it a good patch job. Live with it. Look at me, it is not so bad. Maybe with hard work you will get better than me.

Yes I get a few tens in a year.

Myth: Anxiety disorders aren’t real illnesses.

Fact: Anxiety disorders are real and serious medical conditions, much like physical disorders such as diabetes or heart disease. They may develop from a complex set of biological or environmental risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and traumatic life events.
