Help me

Hi, Warren, I have had the same fear for years. I have been to several doctors and conselors and they all reassured me I am not crazy but am an anxiety sufferer. My counselor has told me that it does not happen overnight and a professional would notice the warnings signs, but no matter what anyone says, it still worries me. Its just a fear i got to shake. I hope you feel better.

I have asked a psychologist the same question. He said schiz don't know they are out of touch with reality. Our problem with anxiety is that we are TOO in touch with reality; too sensitive to it, thus our problem. Best wishes, Cathie

Hey Warren! I read your post and I just wanted to tell you that you are certainly not alone with your feelings. I've had panic attacks for a few years but a year ago I had one that scared me silly. I for sure thought I was going crazy and because I've had to intern in a psych ward to complete my health degree I immediately labled it schizophrenia. I was convinced and still till this day I question everything I do wondering if I am about to lose it. I go to therapy weekly and tell my therapist that I am losing it she simply reassures me that I am not going crazy its my anxiety. I know its hard to persuade yourself otherwise but maybe excercise, meditation and expressing your concerns to someone you can trust will help. I have personlly worked with people who have schizophrenia and its a very debilitating illness and while I am not a psychiatrist I dont think you would be so in touch with your fears. Again I am not a MD but you should talk to your doctor about how you feel. Hope this passes soon!!!!

Hi Warren I am sorry I did not mean to make you think that I thought you did not suffer from panic and anxiety (i am not a MD) I was just trying to answer your post about your concerns with schizophrenia. I felt bad because noone had posted to help you out. If your Doc says you suffer from panic and anxiety then you probably do. Part of anixety is concerns about our health, both physical AND mental. I just felt you were doing catastrophic thinking about the schizophrenia thing. People who suffer from panic and anxiety are very intelligent, creative, detail orientated, highly imagniative, analytical and a list of other attributes. These traits can make us accomplish wonderful things, however when you have anxiety you tend to use these attributes to scare yourself silly, mainly by thinking too much. That is what I meant, and I was trying to reassure you about the worry you had over schizophrenia. Please make sure you discuss these issues with your therapist or Doc, I am sure they can explain better than me. anytime I can help Warren ((hugs))

Thanks a lot guys. You help me out so much every time you post a reply to my messages. Crystal from what you wrote in your message you made it sound like you dont think that I really have panic and anxiety symptoms but that I am just thinking catastrophically . Is this what you really think. By the way Im not upset over that at all. Take care

Hi Warren, I also agree with everything CrystalD has said. Try and think positive, Ruby.... ;p

Hi Warren I feel bad no one has answered your post for so long so I did a little checking around on my own. I am not a MD but i checked a few sites and a few books. Schizophrenia Schizophrenia does run in families, which suggests that genes are at least partly to blame. There so you can stop worrying now. I think what you are doing is catastrophic thinking, you are worrying excessively about something so much that you begin to feel like you are having some of the symptoms. Please understand this can happen to anyone who is stressed, anxious, oversensitized and panicky. Your mind is so tired from analytical thinking, worrying and stress that the batteries are low. You need to try to distract yourself so you can let your mind rest and let those batteries recharge. Try doing some breath exercises, meditation, listen to a relaxation CD, whatever it takes to distract you. If your in therapy make sure to mention to your Doc that you are concerned about these thoughts. I am certain your Doc can explain it better than me and assure you that you have nothing to fear. Hugs to you

Hey everyone I am so terrified of the mental disorder scitzophrenia. Is it just hereditary, if it is then I have nothing to worry about because there is none of it in my family. But some people say that anyone can get it. This terrifies me because if all of the sudden you did get it then you probably would'nt know that you did have it right away. I cant stand the thought of living a life where you believe in things that are not really happening or not really real (delusions) and being caterogized as a "crazy person". I cant stop worrying about it. Everytime I have any kind of thought I think (okay this is gonna sound really stupid) that in the last while I could of got scitzophrenia so this thought could be just a delusion. I dont know what to do. I dont know how to forget about all this stuff and start actually living my life again. Instead of living in fear of stuff that probably will never happen. Someone please help me put my mind at ease.
