Hi Kelly Just wondering does the accupuncture not help then? I'm due to go for a session tonight but am sooooo scared about it. Like what will he think if I panic infront of him

Hi Josie, Thank you for your kind words. You made my day too. Sometimes i feel as though what I'm saying to people in this group might not be what they are wanting to hear. I suffer from Anxiety every day as well and I do understand that it is not easy. But, we all need to get strong within as I stated in my last post. I believe the more we all just sit around focusing our attention on the bad....it's going to get worse. We all need to get active and busy so we don't have the time to realize our bodies symptoms. I just started a job after being on disability for 8 years because of my anxiety and phobias. I made the choice to "drop my crutch" and beat this horrible thing. Yes, it was/is terrifying for me but each day gets a little easier. It really has helped me with my self confidence, and I,m facing my social phobia every day. All of us need to realize that we can do anything if your mind, or your thinking is stronger than this illness. We all need to grab the bull by the horns and go for it! We have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. I happy to see that my words here are not valueless. Thanks again Josie. Lisa :)

Hi Everyone! I have been reading this post and replied earlier back. I also believe that therapy is important in beginning to recover. I had a wonderful therapist who I saw for 2 1/2 years. He really changed my life!!!! I was also diagnosed with PTSD due to an abusive past. I learned that sometimes you need to except things for what they are. I believe that people who have PD or phobias are dealing with other issues as well. Like high stress, sad life, pain etc. It's self confidence that we all lack!!! and it is not easy to get it back once it's gone. It took me 10 or more years to believe that I could voice my opinion about anything because of the abusive relationship I was in for such a long time. Today I fight to be heard. As far as worrying about what people think of me, I'm still dealing with this issue. I repeat in my head, " I'm just as good as the next person." Self talk is very important whether you believe what your saying or not. The more you say it, the more you will believe it. Just like the more someone tell's you you are no good, worthless etc. the more you will believe it. Life is real short and it's sad that we all are living through this experience of PD/phobias. I've always felt that this is some sort of test from God. If we stay strong through this live with PD/phobias our next life will be great!!!! I don't know. My mother used to tell me that, " God will not give you more than you can handle." This statement is a hard one to believe. Anyway, we all need to stay strong and think positive and face our fears no matter how hard it is. We need to take care of ourselves because no one else is going to. Stay tough!!! Hi SInCity, from what I have worked out about myself (and I am doing really well now compared to 3 months ago), panic disorder for me at least has been about high anxiety levels, getting depressed about them, being weak and in a low point do to the depression and anxiety, and not being able to "fight" the panic attacks when they come. Or more to the point, actualyl escalating my own anxiety into panic because I was too weak to think positive and deal with my own emotions and problems etc. Getting in the road to recovery for me has meant: - learning to feel good about myself - changing my environment which was a major stressor (my job was too stressful for me and I wasnt happy in it, now in a new job, much happier) - seeing a clinical psychologist and undergoing cognitive behavioural therapy - learning about the condition, how it works, how it effects me and what i need to do to get better - taking meds (SSRI antidepressants are working wonders for me, and initially for a couple of months i needed xanax, a benzo also) You probably need to learn that the answers are within you. Many of us with PD are really good hearted people, which is why we are prone to anxiety because we spend a lot of time caring about other people and trying to be a good person, and not enough time caring about our own hearts, minds and perhaps bodies. One of the hardest things is getting to the point where you can start to help yourself to get better. For me it took anti-depressants, therapy, environmental changes and a lot of positive thinking and proactive action to get to that point. 1) Dont be afraid to get help. Getting help is empowering yourself. See a professional, normally a GP first, and then referral to a psychologist and or psychiatrist if necessary. Make sure you get diagnosed properly. A lot of people avoid this and it makes it hard to get better later on. Without treatment, anxiety disorders tend to get worse over time. 2) Meds can be integral to recovery, do not be afraid to go on them. Therpay is really important too. I hear a lot of people saying that therapy is a luxury. I know its expensive but even a couple of sessions can really help. 3) there is so much you can do to help

Hi my name is Lisa, I believe that alot of "our" problem is negative thinking. I believe that the mind can make you ill and well. I also believe that we all are not born with PD or phobias. I believe that it has alot to do with self confidence. I also believe that our bodies become too familiar with our symptoms of PD that our bodies feel that it is natural to react the way it does in cirtian situations. It's like if you sluch all the time. Your body begins to adjust to that. So, when you try to sit straight your body react and you feel abnormal. I think it's the same with PD/phobias. It's like learning to sit straight after sluching for years. I believe it's training your mind differently. After saying that, I know how hard it is dealing with PD and phobias I have been dealing with this for about 15 years. I struggle with it every day! Everything is easier said than done. I have not mastered the way I think but am working on it every day. I believe that having positive people around you is very important. My Chiropractor/friend said to me once "TRY NOT TO BE AROUND PEOPLE MORE MESSED UP THAN YOURSELF" Those words stuck with me and made me think. People can bring you down and keep you down. we are all stronger than we think. We can not let PD or phobias take over our lives. WE NEED TO FIGHT WITHIN OURSELVES...FOR THE ANSWERS TO OUR PANIC ATTACKS ARE WITHIN US. Keep the faith, Lisa :)

Hi im kelli In answer to your Qu there are lots of different types of panic some people have panic attacks some people are phobic of certain situations ( like supermarkets )which creates panic/anxiety attacks for them. I have GAD i think (not diagnosed by GP) as he is useless buti have had it for 18 mths I havent found the answer yet but i am still looking. I like you can be anxious anywhere at anytime there doesnt see to be a pattern its just as if i have adrenalin flying all over the place. So far i have tried councilling, hypnotherapy, the linden method, anti depressants, a new job, st johns wort, cammomile tea, rescue remedy OH and accupuncture. I am determined to findsmething that will help people like us and as son as i know the answer i will tell the world OH and for FREE Anymore QU let me know Take care and chin up

Hi all im a newbie here.its nice to read other peoples post's and know there is support,I was wondering if you guys think is there realy any med or anything that works for this ??Ive read a bit and done a bit to no avail are we going to be panic ridden for life, do we have constant open adrenal glands for ever :( I try to keep busy but the panic can hit at anytime in any place for no reason It must be a chemical imbalance regards sincity :"-(
