Relationships and Anxiety

I do not talk to my family about my anxiety. I don't even know how I would bring it up.

I understand both of you. If you haven't lived it; you don't have any idea. I'm sorry you just lost a relationship T1234. I imagine that isn;t making the anxiety much better, is it? For me, relationship trouble makes my anxiety worse. I have heard that social anxiety and even anxiety disorders in general are actually the most common mental health issue. That makes me feel a little bit more normal knowing that. I have a few friends that also have anxiety disorders. We certainly are not alone in that. From what I have read cbt is the most helpful so I am going to give it a shot. Glad I am in good company!

Hi!

How does anxiety impacts your relationships? For me...my partner doesn't seem to understand and I think he blames me when I just don't feel up to being around people. I often feel guilty that I am holding him back. I also know my friends likely think it's messed up when I just disappear for a few weeks - it's usually when I am just not up to leaving the house. I give made up excuses to both my friends and boyfriends. I'm hoping I will get better with time but I just wish they could undestand what it's like....it's not like I can just wish it away. Ugh I am feeling frustrated? Can anyone relate?
