Trial and error has been my teacher since I left home at too young of an age. Having to fix things for myself has given me a lot of theory but not stopped me from seeking knowledge elsewhere when needs be. The biggest problem is knowing when that knowledge is accurate.

Once you begin to believe there is help "out there," you will know it to be true.
- Saint Bartholomew

If I ever wonder if I should ask for help, I'm reminded that the world is full of "great" people who have, not ironically great armies of people around them "helping" them.

Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never - yes, never - sell yourself short.
- David J. Schwartz

Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.
- Brian Tracy

Keeping the gremlins at bay is the challenge among the changing moods within and around us.  Sometimes I feel its like being on a ship which is unwieldy, and learning to get your "sea legs" is  another competency I seek?

Can anybody relate?  It could be worse, since I could be on the Costa Concordia

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of the great motivational speakers, D Carnegie stated something similar about compartmentalizing thoughts into rooms, for focus, which I think is helping me.

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self confidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense.

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.

Every failure is a step to success.
- William Whewell

Today, even though it's june, I wanted to take my tires to the automobile shop, but think will wait, since I don't want to push my body.  My body is more important than a bit of haste.  I don't see this as failure, as much as a detour.
