Ativan

I got off antidepressants completely about 3 months ago. (Maybe bad timing in hindsight. LOL!) I did this with the aid of a Naturopath who has me taking Rhodiola, griffonia, phytisone, essential fatty acids and something else I can't remember.

None of them are terribly fast acting or as dramatic in their effect as something like Ativan, but I notice a difference when I remember to take them.

The side effects are negligible compared to the antidepressants I was taking. Just my two cents.

Yay Juanita!!!! It is VERY inspiring to hear how much progress you have made and continue to enjoy.  Enjoy... wow... enjoying life.  I'm so excited for you that hubby is coming home for a rest.  He is going to be very pleasantly surprised at the changes you have made.

Thanks for sharing your positivity, Juanita! So nice to hear success stories. It's very helpful and inspiring for everyone to see that changes do happen and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Juanita

You are amazing. Yes I am weight bearing and there is some pain. The leg is not used to not having support and the ankle is not used to bending but the worst is standing in one spot. Other than that it will get better when it does I guess. It is time to get temporary linings for my teeth but I have been waffling cause it is an hour long drive to the dentist. Besides the roads have been bad with all the snow we have been getting. Lot of people here have the flu too so I have been staying home. All good excuses hey. No gumming lol. Can't eat raw apples is about it.

I don't have TV or radio so was not aware of the earth quake. (DVDs and CDs) My friend on Skype will tell me about it. That will be enough for me.

Everyone, yes you will get better and eventually much better. Believe me the set backs and all the things life throws at you will be as nothing when you do.

Here for you.

Hi Everyone,
Davit...your're castless! Ya-hoo! You must feel so much lighter..both physically and mentally! I'm so happy for you...are you weight-bearing or in physio?  I hope you don't have any pain. How's the teeth situation? Do you still have to gum your food?
Red, Laura, Debi...we all can and will get better...myself, I'm so happy with the changes in me over the past year...I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I'm so calmly happy its crazy!! haha..Just let it continue is my newest mantra. Mostly because I know how to react now, not over-react....thanks CBT!  Less than 2 weeks til hubby comes home for his rest and relaxation....I'm so happy with myself..he's been gone 10 weeks and I'm doing well...Actually having a life too!(not counting every minute til he's back)..just days..hahah.... My Foot care is going well, I've did some socializing..life is so good when its not full of anxiety!  his wallet is going to be a bit lighter...since I no longer have anxiety about shopping or going to hairdressers..hahah... you know.... a girl's got to look her best...
Everyone take care,
I think of you all often..oh..lets all pray for those poor people in Japan eh? I watched the tsunami ....Wow!! The power of mother nature!!

Red, you bet there's hope!  You bet you can get better!  I've had panic disorder for 15 years, and for the last 8 or so I've been about 98% well.  And I agree with you on the Ativan.  It helped me during that pregnancy.  I don't know if I would have made it without it, since they wouldn't give me anything else.

Laura, Thank you. It mean a lot to me.
He really is in a much better place now.

The only reason I decided to post this story was to make the point that Ativan can be a very good medication. I have seen it work to relieve extreme panic when nothing else did or could. When I look at my anxiety and panic as compared to someones with ptsd and dementia it really doesn't seem that bad..which makes it a lot easier to live with. In my case there is hope and it can get better..I thank God for that every day...

Yeah, Davit!  Better to take it and be successful and add that to your arsenal than fight and resist and feel terrible.

Great stuff!
Laura
