Ladypugh,

I'm glad to hear that you had a good sleep. I hope you have a great day today.  Do something you enjoy; you certainly deserve it!

Well I slept mostly through the night. Woke up a couple of times but was able to fall back to sleep.

Grapefruit will make the Xanax more active. No grapefruit with it. Lunesta and Xanax will increase the effects of each other but the only caution when taking the two is to be careful moving around. You may also breath shallower and the Lunesta has a bad taste. I still think it is overkill but remember this is only my thoughts and I am not a doctor. I don't know how hard it is for you to sleep. Sorry if I am making you nervous.

If the xanax lets you sleep then the lunesta may compound it and you will have trouble waking up. I am going to check this I personally think they should not be together. They are both sedatives.

I think I had two fears making it go up. One was that the Dr. was not going to want to recognize the issue and the other was that the medicine would not help relieve the issue.

I think the Xanax finally took over a couple of hours ago, because although I still feel that I cant take deep breaths it isnt affecting me as much. Also I noticed, the first time I had laughed in 4 days that my chest muscles hurt. Is that why I'm still feeling like I cant breathe because my chest muscles are all tight? I'm trying to do the PMR techniques for chest but that doesnt seem to be loosening them. Maybe its my shoulders...I'm gonna go focus on that before taking the Lunesta.

A long talk with a friend about this and that including this situation and spiritual things really helped alot as well and she is who made me laugh. I told her about this site and told her that even if she didnt have any severe anxiety issues going through the program would help her understand how to deal with any that she might have. Maybe if I can laugh some more that will work out the muscle issue.  I wasnt really telling any but a few of my friends, maybe because I was embarresed that I couldnt control myself? But I finally let the cat out of the bag today and prayers and well wishes and phone calls have been pooring in all afternoon. Sharing with you guys on the forums helped me understand that this was not something that I should be embarrased by and that there were plenty of people who could understand exactly what was happening with me.

On a faith based note, I realized that this anxiety was a spiritual playground for Satan and that made me mad that I was being used like this.

Hi Ladypugh,

What do you think is triggering this increase? Is it the discussion around finances? The anticipation of a medication working?

We are hear listening.  You are not alone.

I talked with him today and finances are my pervue. I was an 8-10 hr sleeper before this happened. Now I want to know how long it is supposed to take for the Xanax to kick in because I'm going up in fear degree's as we speak.

Hi Ladypugh,
Nice to meet you and welcome to the site. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble sleeping. How was your sleep patterns before this happened? A big purchase can be very overwhelming especially finance is a sensitive topic for you. That is how I am, I am always worried about my finance, even in times that are stable. On top of that to be caught in between with your spouse can be very stressful. Something that used to help me was by writing a pro and con list and weighing the good and bad. It would be good if you can tell you husband how you are feeling about it too. Let us know how it goes.

Dr. told me to stop taking the Cipro and that we could just remedy the UTI the old fashioned way with water and cranberry juice...it will take longer but eventually it will clear. Sge gave me an additional BP medicine that she said would help calm me in addition to the Xanax that she perscribed. She also gave me some lunesta to try and get some sleep. I have lost 8 pounds since Monday.

I think i actually discovered the trigger of all these attacks and I truly think now that it has been 1 long panic attack but to lesser degree's. Let me explain. My husband wanted to make a big purchase and he kept nagging me and taking me to stores and such, well i finally capitulated on Sunday evening against my better judgement and that night is when this all started. I have the money to pay off the purchase so thats the first thing I'm going to do, but I'm not really sure how to combat this trigger or why it has continued.

Ladypugh.

You will probably have to take one of the benzodiazapines just to break the cycle. I feel you will then be able to work on the anxiety with out the stress that is interfering right now. You will also be able to sleep. Please stay away from Ativan though. Use Diazepam, lorazepam, xanax. One of those or that class. Cipro could have been the problem but now that it is in your head you will have to tell it to get lost. Please stay on your BP med. Talk to your doctor about Propranolol. It is a beta blocker that will slow down your pulse and lower your BP. but the big thing with it is it reduces Panic also. It is used for shakes and stage fright and does work. It doesn't work very good as a BP med so has been moved to an anti anxiety. You will still have to take something for the UTI. The problem is that Penicillin's and to a lesser degree tetracycline's can cause Panic in certain people but the Benzo will prevent it from being too bad. If you are taking a beta blocker like atenolol ( I am ) ask if you can take an extra one during the Panic. I was allowed to do this. I presume you have a BP machine to monitor. It works great to reduce panic. You take it and then close your eyes and breath slow thinking it down and do this every five minutes till it comes down. The panic will go to some extent with it. Then shout I won and go back to sleep. If you do the program I will explain to you about reinforcements and distractions. They go with the box breathing and help it to work better.

Davit.
