Thank you Lynn123!! Any advice on how you got through the first few days & weeks is much appreciated!! ??

Sabastian, that’s amazing!! Preparing for the evening routine is a great idea! I’m going to do the same!
I made it through the weekend without having anything! I was very concerned & am hoping as the next few days
go by it gets easier. I have another party on Saturday I’m concerned about but trying to take it one day at a time
and just concentrate on today & enjoy the small victory of getting through this past weekend.  ????

It’s the beginning of the week and I’m loading up on gingerale and popcorn for my evening routine! Day on of my four day goal :)

Thank you Lynn123 for your kind words! Any advice is appreciated.

EMJ715 and Sabastian,

Good job to both of you!  It sounds like both of you are in similar places and I think it's great that you are communicating.  I remember those anxious feelings, I had them often when I thought about not drinking.  I am alcohol free now, August will be 4 years and it was this site helped me.  If you have questions ask, me or someone else here will respond.

Good luck!

Some people are bodily and mentally wired different than others. I suggest, you read the chapter "More about alcoholism".

https://www.aa.org/assets/en_US/en_bigbook_chapt3.pdf

The chapter talks about 3 kinds of drinkers at a broad level. See if you can relate.

Good for you!! Definitely does not sound silly! I love wine so definitely understand
what a wonderful accomplishment not having it is! I keep telling myself I will
feel so much better mentally & physically if I can get through the first few day.
Great! I think I’m definitely going to need accountability as this is harder
than I thought but I have to make something work & learn to moderate.
I’ve been drinking too much for too long now.
Thank you!! ????

And I could use some accountability too!

You did it! Good for you. Tomorrow I’m taking a small step and not having wine for four days. Sounds silly, but for me will be a big deal. So happy for you. It’s a journey.

Thank you! I did have some extra snacks & dessert which I never have but I did
not drink!! It was tough but am so proud of myself! Thank you so much for the
help & advice! It would be great to have some help with
accountability. This is only day 2 of taking a break & I can tell it’s going to be
harder than I thought.
Thank you again!! ??

Maybe allow yourself some extra food and have a pop or something special that you like to drink that’s non alcoholic :) think about how good you will feel tomorrow morning! Be kind to yourself ??

Thank you & yes!! Help with accountability would be amazing!
I’m going to a family party today & cannot drink.
I keep telling myself I can do it, but can be hard not to
when actually in the situation. I promised my husband & myself
I would take a break for a while. Any advice on how to deal with
urges & parties/social situations?
Thank you!
