Happy Dance!

11 years ago 0 42 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have decided to celebrate some successes and to set new goals for February.

The month of December saw great results in moderating, with 15 days completely AF ( not in a row) and the rest with less than 3 drinks per day. However, there were 2 days of excessive drinking- the result of having wine in the house (Xmas celebrations!) I am pretty proud of those stats, my usual pattern prior to deciding to moderate would look drastically different and not in a good way.The days of consuming a bottle of wine a day with maybe 4 days total abstinence  each month seem pretty ridiculous to me now. Yay happy dance!

Fuelled with this success I set a mini goal of achieving total abstinence for the first two weeks in January. It's day 14 and DONE! Happy dance. I am confident that January will be entirely AF.

I am looking ahead to February since this will be when I start work again after the school holiday break ( I am a primary school teacher). My usual after school routine will need to change from pouring a drink the minute I get in the door to hauling my tired stressed mind and body out the door for a run. It will need to be a long one, about 10 k to rid me of the tension I usually feel after a days teaching. I put such a lot of effort and energy into my teaching and I truly enjoy my job but it drains me at the end of the day. I simply can't relax, I am wound up like a tight spring.

Being on holiday has re-charged my batteries and I have been able to attend box fit classes, bootcamps, training for a tri, running and have enrolled in a weight training gym. It feels great to be able to push myself physically without a care in the world! I can just think about me. I like it.

Any ideas for relaxation that don't involve meditation? I am not ready for that just yet.
