Not long but feels good

Good stuff!  I'm going to adopt your celery and dip idea.  And you will love Hawaii.  It's beautiful and relaxing and MUCH better experienced sober.  Be sure to do a little snorkeling...

I don't get cravings too often now, but do get into
"stupid" thoughts when I am too tired and bored (like, oh one small
one won't hurt!). Fortunately I am also sufficiently scared of that
"first" one since the other half of my brain knows it WILL hurt that
I find something else to do immediately. I keep a pot of decaf available, even
if it is cold and I have to microwave a beer mug full of it (a better use of
the beer mugs anyway, LOL). I also always have a few large bottles of diet
ginger ale around as an alternative.
I almost always have some homemade fat free sour cream dip and cleaned celery around to munch with it, as well as
several apples, in case I need to keep my hands/mouth busy. And if things are
getting particularly tough I get out of the house, browse through a mall or
Home Depot type store even though I don't want anything. Carrying/drinking a decaf with
me helps.

Sometimes a really spicy beer mug size virgin Caesar (using
lower salt veggie juice) helps at home too. If nothing else it sure makes you
feel warm!

As for rewarding myself, that idea seems odd to me because I'm afraid I'll feel I've accomplished everything then, when in fact I know I can ruin it all the next day. So I feel that not drinking is only as good as how I'll do
the rest of today and tomorrow. Can't celebrate because I don't know how I will
do tomorrow. Having said that , and not really as a no drinking reward, but may be a celebration of sorts that I have made it this far. I just booked an end of February two weeks with a sibling in someplace I've never
been, Hawaii!!! Definitely blew the vacation  budget a bit on that one. Being there in itself will present another no-alcohol challenge. On the plus side I'mtold that even a glass of wine there can cost $20. If so, maybe my frugal
(cheap) self that I blame on the Scottish part of my ancestry will be
beneficial. LOL. There is NO wine worth $20 a glass for MY unrefined taste buds.

Hang tight, Rusty.  This one sounds like a toughie, but you can do it.  What are you doing to keep your eyes on the prize?

Sounds good.

What is your emergency plan if you have a crave?

How do you plan on rewarding yourself after this?

Keep it up. You will get through this.

Day 5 of 12 house sitting.  So far so good.  Lots of alcohol in the house and no restrictions on using it.  Keeping that cupboard closed and keeping busy instead.

I think I'll wait until the two week challenge is over.  It's two somewhat stressful weeks essentially alone away from home.  It really is going to have all my triggers and probably be as hard as the first couple of weeks if not harder.  I've been planning activities for a while to keep busy then.  I'll just take it one day at a time I guess.

Rusty,

85 days IS a long time. Great work! I liked your ideas of going to the mall or a movie when you are craving.

How do you plan to celebrate on 100 days! I think you deserve something big planned

Thanks, Hepsie.  I've got a two week period coming up in just over a couple of weeks that will be a huge challenge.  I plan to check in every day here to try to keep focused.

Congratulations, Rusty!  That's a great accomplishment!
