Congrats on day 3 Junebug!

Rereading and writing about what happened sounds like a great idea to keep yourself motivated and to remind yourself how bad you want this.  But be careful not to be too hard on yourself.  Remember you are not this addiction.  What strengths do you have within yourself that will assist you right now?

Feeling unmotivated and are to be expected now.  Be gentle on yourself and focus on staying sober.  If you feel you need to rest, rest.  Reward yourself regularly and do activities you enjoy.  This will be a tough battle but it sound like you are ready for it.  Post often.  We are all here to support you through this.

Thank you Foxman

funny enough reading those sentences about the people and how they think they can drink for what ever reason is all to familiar! i am  going to look that book up!i really appreciate it. Its those things that i give in to all the excuses i give myself and reassurance that i make up .

The book Alcoholics Anonymous is freely available on the internet. Our kind would benefit on chapters 'Doctors opinion' and 'More About Alcoholism'. Then when convinced you may read the rest of the book.

The chapter 'More about alcoholism' illustrates this baffling disease using personal stories. The first one is about a business man who quits on his own will and then after a successful career succumbs to the idea that he can drink normally after a prolonged absence.

Then a car sales man thinks he can drink safely on a full stomach and orders milk with whiskey along with his second sandwich...

Then there is another story where an Accountant after a great successful day falls into a trap that he could handle a tall drink after a brief abstinence.

All these stories reiterates that the alcoholic has no control over his drinking. The only hope is to pick a spiritual solution..

Hi Junebug,

I'm sorry to hear this. I can really hear the frustration in what you are writing. It sounds like you really want to get a handle on this.  First of all remember this is an addiction and it takes a great amount of strength, determination, support, and information to take control.  Also know that we are here to support you.  Use the program for information.  Where else can you gain information and support for this?

What are the next steps?

Hi

i have been doing so well with out drinking and then well i found excuses t self destruct . thats what i do when i drink i self destruct. i can tell u i just lost my job and a bunch of family issues are going n, yes it s all true although loosing my job is a good thing because i used it as a safety net...so why did i use it as an excuse t get hammered and act like a fool ? well i am so sick of drinking ad how i behave it really makes me so angry at myself really angry! i loved it when i didn't  drink, but i four days tis Christmas and everyone in my family drinks! everyone in my boyfriends family drinks! everyone one of my friends drinks and parties! i feel sooo completely lost! i have been  drinking for 15 years years , a hard partier i just really dislike what i turn into its does no good for me but why is it so hard for me to stay away? well here i am back today 1, i am an alcoholic.
