Another day (3)

Thank you all for your help and support. Five days now and not a single puff. Even went out yesterday. Didn't phase me at all. Just a headache from being around it all night. Cravings comes and goes but the feeling of knowing you're free is worth waiting it out with. Well have to go back to studying.

Congrats on day three evilcanofcocacola!

Please remember sleeping disturbances are not only common but temporary! Here are a few tips to help you get back into a regular sleep schedule:

•Try to get on a sleep schedule. Go to bed at a regular time each night and get up at a regular time in the morning. Try to not stay up late watching TV and try not to sleep during the day. If you get on a sleep schedule, we guarantee that you’ll begin to feel better.
•Try to make the room you sleep in as quiet as possible. Consider ear plugs or a sleep mask.
•Use your bed only for sleeping. Don’t lounge around in your bed. If you spend too much time lounging in bed, watching T.V., drinking coffee, or eating, your body will learn that your bed is NOT a place for sleeping.
•If you can’t sleep after half an hour in bed don’t stay in bed trying to sleep. Get up and do some quiet activity. For example, read a book for a half hour and then try going back to bed. If you still can’t sleep, get up and do something quiet once again.
•Try to keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature - not too cold and not too hot.
•Try to get some exercise every day. You’ll feel better and sleep will come much quicker.
•Try not to exercise or work hard late in the evening. It could make you feel ‘wired’.
•Don’t drink anything with caffeine or alcohol for 4 hours before you go to bed.
•Try not to eat a heavy meal in the evening. Don’t eat just before you go to bed.
•If you’re not sleeping at night, avoid naps during the day.
•Use relaxation techniques. Box breathing may help you relax at bed time.

Hey there, evilcan!

Yes. If you can get through this day, a lot of the anxiety should fade away. I can still remember that sigh of relief when the last of the nicotine was gone from my body. Such an amazing feeling to finally be free of it. Hang in there! It is totally worth the stress today to have that relief by tomorrow.

Hey Evilcanofcocacola!

Hang in there, buddy!  Take it one day, one hour or one minute at a time!  Try to keep a Positive Mental Attitude on your journey and use a lot of self talk!  Keep reminding yourself that you CAN do this and that you want this quit MORE than you want to smoke!  After 3 days, the nicotine is out of your system.  From here on out, it's a mental war between you and your demon!  Sharpen your sword and vow to NEVER lose another battle to that stinkin' nico-demon!  That's one of the ways I looked at it and it really seemed to help!

If you haven't already looked at the Program (above drop down box), check it out!  The Program really helps you prepare yourself for the challenges you will face.  Reading and posting here will further your knowledge on quitting and can be an excellent distraction when the battles start!

Congrats on 3 days!!!  I know how hard it is in the beginning, but I can tell you quitting is easy staying that way has always been hard for me.  But with this quit I have become a NON-SMOKER  I love saying that instead of saying I am trying to quit.

Bumped a thread in coping with craves.  It is about a crave basket.  You may find it helpful to get you though these hard days.   Stay close and read and post.

evilcanofcocacola   Tell yourself that no matter what happens today that I won't smoke. Keep some ice water handy for the craves. Drinking cold water helped me a lot. Excellent for you for not smoking. breather

Morning, I too will be focusing today, no time for negative thoughts. Why would I deliberately choose to make myself miserable! Bank holiday for me so off out for an hour then back home to continue work in the garden. The sun is shining its great to take advantage. Have a positive day. Viv N.O.P.E

Well day 3 of my previous 37 day record. Feeling a little bit better today and no cravings yet. Spent a half hour before bed yesterday focusing and breathing. Still battling to sleep but today I just decided I'm going to focus on work and not think about it. Only a day or two to go before he anxiety eases a little?
