Lifeseeker:  This is truly the place to be.  I have thirteen days under my belt and this site helped me every step of the way.  When I really wanted a cigarette, I started typing and waiting for the responses.  Just the typing itself sometimes got my mind off the craving until it passed..  It sounds like you've definitely made the decision to quit which is exactly where I was--I just didn't want to smoke anymore.  It wasn't fun anymore and the costs now outweigh the benefits.  I constantly chew gum which is somewhat repulsive but I'll worry about that on another day.  Hang in there and really use this site when you need to.  Lisa

Welcome to the site!! Congratulations on your decision to be smoke free!
"It's really hard at first, but keeps getting easier and easier" I really hated hearing that, but now i know that it is true, otherwise I would be smoking right now. Come here daily if you can, to rant, rave and get support, use the tools and resources with help on what to expect during your quit. Give your body and mind the sleep it needs at first. Then start doing things to keep your mind busy. No thinking of how hard the quit is or how much quitting sucks. No negative dwelling. This only makes your quit harder - trust me! I cleaned my house, organized my closets etc. Anything to keep my mind (and hands) busy. And it worked. My quit meter still helps me to this day. Whenever I may think i want a cigarette, I just look at it. There is no way i want to set that thing back to zero. Too much time and energy invested into that. I wish you the best and hope to see you around here lots!
