I may have not found the proper word for how I felt. It was more "unrelenting" than "overwhelming". I made it through. Posting helped me to put into perspective & I continued on with my life. A little meditation and then a little housework kept me occupied.
Willis, funny, I haven't got a memory like that... smoking cigarettes isn't seductive to me; it's just what I've always done.
hi Mica, Sometimes we fixate on a cigarette. We remember the best smoke we ever had and we want it again and we want it now. The trouble is that it's a fantasy. That best cigarette we're thinking about may have been 5 years ago and we smoked hundreds and hundreds more that we don't even remember smoking but somehow we just remember that great smoke we had. Don't lose your quit over a fantasy. Don't fall for it mica. You can have one but you must take all the hundreds of others that come with it.If you don't want all those hundreds don't fall for the fantasy Mica.
Ashley's right Mica- these days do come and go. However, it is just a day and it will pass. As long as you're ready to challenge that negative thought and distract yourself away from the thinking you'll be ok.
We are former addicts of course, and our past behaviours will crop up now and again as we have indulged in our habits for so long. But at least you recognise the junkie mentality and shouted it down. Keep up that great resolve and determination and you'll be just fine.
Today has been rough. It seems like my "junkie thinking" has escaped from the nice little locked box in my brain. I've had a quick & reliable response each time, but I'm also feeling over-whelmed by it. I will keep on sayin' NOPE!
