Thank you Lil Monkey. :) Yes, I'm still going strong. I've had enough. I'm an ex-smoker. Keep calm and carry on--woohoo!

Ashley, I gave my doctor a call and she said bruising more easily is completely normal, but unexplained bruising is not. I said they're not unexplained, they're all in places I know I've leaned against or bumped, etc. She said it's probably just improving circulation and I'm welcome to come in if it gets worse or I feel concerned and want her to have a look in person. I'm not concerned, though. :D

Congrats Ready2Quit,
Hopefully you are staying strong, it is an amazing feeling to reach your milestones and hopefully you are rewarding yourself accordingly! by the sounds of it everything is getting easier, once in a while I still get a "craving" but you will be happy to know it goes just as fast as it comes!! Success is yours for the taking!

Hi Ready2Quit,

In regards to an increase in bruising this is not a withdrawal symptom I have heard of before. You may want to talk to a doctor regarding this. To my understanding how easily you bruise could actually be improved when quitting smoking as your circulation is improved.

One possible explanation is that while quitting you may feel a little "spaced out" or fatigued.  This spaced out feeling is due to carbon  monoxide withdrawal and may possibly be causing an increase in clumsiness!   For more information on withdrawal symptoms check out Milestone 3.

Again, if you are ever concerned about you withdrawal symptoms it is best to talk to a Doctor.

I can't remember the last time I had a bruise. It was probably before I started smoking 15 years ago. Now I'm covered in little ones on places I bumped or banged over the past few days.

Improving circulation, maybe?

Just got a really nasty, sickly head rush from a single piece of 2mg gum--symptoms of too much nicotine from just a single piece of gum while wearing the 7mg patch (when I started wearing the 21mg patch and couldn't chew enough 4mg gum to even feel it, hahaha).

The nicotine is really starting to leave my system... awesome!

I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms--but not cravings! I forgot my patch yesterday, so I think that's why I'm getting some withdrawal symptoms.

My skins feels numb, hahaha--mostly on my scalp, but it's everywhere, really. So bizarre and cool.

And I LOVE that there are no cravings with it. It's just withdrawal. But... I still have 8-9 days, or so, on the 7mg patch before I'm free. :D

So far the only coping mechanisms I've really used are the patch/gum, regular gum, going to sleep, drinking water, going for a hand-shaking walk, etc.

I don't really have any others yet.

Way to stay strong Ready2Quit.   Interesting that your subconscious is revealing how you would feel if you gave into a craving...  remember your dream if you reach that point!
What coping mechanisms have you prepared for yourself, apart from the gum, that you plan to use if the desire to smoke creeps up on you?

Continue to post with us and let us know how your week goes!

Day 43... the end is in sight.

I only have another week and a half on the 7mg patches and then I'm free. ;) Or, almost free... I'm going to keep the gum around for a while, just in case. Woohoo!

I've been having smoking shame dreams, hahaha. It's so weird. I very rarely remember my dreams--and what I do remember is vague--but I've had a couple of dreams that I recall involved me wanting to smoke, feeling helpless and overwhelmed, deciding to smoke, and feeling guilty and ashamed. I don't remember seeing myself actually smoke, just the before/after. Weird, eh?

But oh well. It didn't really happen and I'm still going strong. :D

Today is my first day using the 7mg patch. :) So far, so good!
