Having a tough time

I quit, Oh I hope you are staying strong hon, you have some challenging scenarios going on there what with your boss and all. I think thats so mean of her to smoke around you, I guess maybe shes jealous of your determination.
It is also against the law in the UK to smoke in a workplace regardless of whether you own the building or not, my husband and I own our building but we never smoked inside as its unfair on the non smoking employees.
As for the patch, my patch programme was 12 weeks, Step1,2, and 3- and I too was dreading coming off them but you know what the step down is so minimal I dont think you will have a problem.
So stay focused, stay positive, you've come such a long way and done so well.

Stay Strong..........

There are going to those that DO smoke and will look at us like we're the idiots!!  Remember......they are addicts....they can't help it and haven't chosen to become a NON-ADDICT like you have.
You did this for you.......your reasons and your life.  Let them continue to see how strong you have become.  Let them continue to see how empowered you are now.

Bottom line........They are jealous of your ability to Quit.  You're way stronger than they are.   Each of those craves you say N.O.P.E. to is making you stronger too.  I'm not going to even talk about the MONEY!!!

I'd look for work in a better environment but I wouldn't leave til I had a new job to go to.  You're way too valuable an employee as a non-smoker now!!!!  No "work time breaks".......Way better health, better smelling, just better to be around.

My fingers and toes are crossed for you to find what you need.......meantime......stay strong.....

HUGGGGGG
Bob

Thanks Bob and lou P lou, ya, my boss knows I quit. She has such concern that she STILL SMOKES IN THE BUILDING. It is actually against the law here in Canada but she owns the building, it is actually a house that has been converted to an office. Its a love hate thing with the smoking, it stinks to high heaven and makes me sick but then I crave it when I smell it. I have told her it bothers me but it is her house and if I don't like it then I guess it is up to me to leave. (I am that close anyway except the money is good). She is not going to smoke outside until the weather gets nice and then who knows. I have only been there for a month and a half. The girl I work with smokes as well. I don't stand a chance. But reading these messages help. I am off to a BDay party tonight, hopefully it will occupy my mind.

I Quit,

First off I want to say congrats on 64 days smoke free.  That is awesome!  You can do this and you can and will go all the way!  I did not use the patch so I have no advise on that... BUT, I am a quitter and wanted to let you know that it does get easier and it is well worth it!

This is the first post I have read of yours... so I don't "know"you too well yet.  So I am not sure what all you have tried..

Have you worked the program here, it is a real help early in your quit and when things are tough.

Do you reward yourself?  You need to reward yourself when you make it through a tough crave and at key points in your quit.  There are many things you can do to reward yourself and I am sure that the other members can chime in on things they do.  For me, early in my quit I would go out to eat each month to celebrate.  Each week I would buy a bottle of nail polish... it was cheap and one of the things I did to get past a crave was to paint my fingernails.  Some days my nails would be a different color many time in an hour and up until I quit smoking I rarely painted my nails... and after a while I found that I didn't crave as much and found that I didn't need nail polish!  My two year smoke free date is coming up, it is a biggie for me so the reward is a new computer.

Bob has a great idea with the quit buddy.  You have close quit dates and can help each other through each "milestone".  There are a bunch of wonderful people here, so when things get tough lean on us... that is what this sight is all about!

Hang in there!  You can make it!!!

I hear you.......I find myself yelling and angry at all sorts of things..........
Use a pillow........SCREAM into it.......it really helps.
Go outside or where you are alone and tilt your head back and SCREAM..........
Put a boxing bag where you can hit it
Get one of those "stress" balls ......squeeze it while you fume.....

We are at a tough time in our Quits.......The mental aspect of dealing with the addict CONSTANTLY is wearing us down.  Read the post "this is why you think about smoking".......... It helped me a lot.
We're gonna laugh about this in the future.......

PS: Does your boss know you are Quitting?   If not it might help if he/she did.........just a thought

We are close in Quit days ..........I'd be happy and proud to be one of your Quit Buddys' and help one another through this.  It does get easier as time goes on but it sure helps to have the help along with it.

We can do this.......Come on and join the marches and hop the train when Mike gets it going........we'll follow kaiser on the Monday March........and we can lead the Hump Day March that I start on wednesdays.

I'll save a place for you........

Still hanging in there, I left my last patch on for 2 days, sucked every last morsel from it I could, dry mouth is a problem and the 'I can't take a deep enough breath' feeling is attacking but I am managing. Came here today to find Joe Cools post, very sad but helps me because that has always been my issue, I cant die and leave all those who love me and depend on me behind just because I smoked. That thought always frustrated and frightened me, I could always see their crying faces of despair. Man, that just tugs at my heart. Anyway, I probably make it alot worse than it really would be but as much as I loved to smoke, I love to live better. So thanks for all your encouragement, one more week and I should be better.

Hey IQuit! I did the patch and I did it an extra couple of weeks too. Nothing wrong with that! You are an addict and you do what you gotta do, if you want to go another couple of weeks, so what! Do it for you, when you are ready, than come off, I know you want to be off the nicotine but just remember the steps down cause a bit of a disturbance in your quit, so be ready for it. You may find the cravings a bit more intense for a day or too, that is all. You know its just the junkie trying to suck you back in to starting again, and you don't want to do that! Plan ahead, have extra gum and candy or something on standby for those days and you will soar thru them! You are doing so well! Ease into it! You can do it!
