What my slip cost me

Sparky, I know nothing I can say will help what you're feeling, but if it's any consolation, your post came to me at the right time.  Coincidence??? Who knows.
I just about threw in the towel last night....and I didn't care. I still haven't totally convinced myself that it's worth continuing the fight.  There's a lot of crap going on right now, as there is in everybody's life at one time or another, and I know smoking won't make it "better", but it's so easy to fall back on a crutch that held us up for so many years.  I'm back to taking it one minute, one hour, one day at a time, which I thought I was well past.
In my eyes, you're a true winner.  You've been able to reflect on the consequences of your choice, and deal with it in ways that you feel are best for you.  You are a very special person - don't ever lose sight of that.  Thanks for being you.

Oh Sparky- what I learned from your 'slip' was that you are a wonderful, refreshingly honest human being who like the rest of us has vulnerable times.
What happened with you could , and sadly will, happen to some other people on this site- maybe even me, I never say never! We are not infallable- however, instead of dwelling on the setback, I would hope to have the strength and tenacity you have demonstrated in evaluating the loss, dusting yourself down, and planning to get back on track.....when you are ready, not before, not when you feel everyone else wants you to...when you are ready then I for one am right behind you- like you were for me, and I know there will be a host of other SSC'ers behind you too (((hugs)))

What my slip cost me

My self-esteem is gone
I smell
I can’t sleep at night because I wake up and have to smoke
I am afraid people will see me smoking
My throat is sore
My heart rate is higher
I let others and myself down
No matter how I try to justify my smoking, there is no sound reason
Those secrets will kill you character
My workouts are becoming harder
My zest has left

What I learned about my slip

I have more support than one can image
I have not failed I had a set back
That you can begin again and still have value
There is absolutely nothing to be gained by returning to smoking
Practice what you preach.
Ask for help
Share no matter how silly you may think it is, believe me someone has had the same thoughts.
Learn to forgive yourself, and remember always how special you are.

I am sure there is more that could be added, but I just wanted to share this.  I lost site of how special my quit was and lost it.  It broke my heart to reset my quit day and see 400+ days vanish.  I know I had them, but it is now to start again.  If this can help one person then I have been blessed.

Keep the Quit
Sparky
