Your guide to quitting ? But I?ve failed before

15 years ago 0 515 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
This is my first quit. Never tried before. Never wanted to before.
Didn't actually want to this time, just thought I should. I have a strong sense of smell and I hated the smell of old smoke on me. Came across this site and just ended up putting in a quit date....history from there.

Probably about my 7th.   My first quit I put them down and never even thought about it.  So I thought well I can smoke and just quit whenever I want..  HA... Was I ever WRONG..

This time I used Chantix, this site, Allen Carr's Book... and I dedicated my quit to my mother in law.. who was diagnosed with lung cancer... on the very day I started my quit.

I had to come to the realization that  yes I am addicted to Nicotine..  I cannot have one, and jut put them down.

There is never going to be a "serene moment" the perfect time to quit.   The perfect time is NOW... read, read and read some more, then PREPARE.. BE ready to take the reins and say NO...

I smoked a pack a day for 45 years,  I quit several times  from   a day , 2 weeks, 3 months..

be prepared... know what your habits and triggers are.. and be ready with distarctions, rewards and Self talk.

This is my third quit.  None of the others made it very far.  The first was 3 days, the second exactly 30 and now this one.  I owe it to preparation, Chantix and this site with all the wonderful people....thanks SSC.

If you don't count quit's that last less than a week I've quit about 6 or 7 times.  If you count any attempts to quit that lasted more than a day I've tried over 30 times.  For me I realize that this is the last time.  I don't want to anymore and I have stopped the bargaining with myself and just realized that I would just rather not be a smoker anymore.  For me, I think the Keep it simple Sally principle really applies when you take away the noise.  The Champ-IX I imagine deserves most of the credit so far.  Day 4.

I never really made up my mind to quit before. I didn't think I was an addict. Learning about addiction I believe is the key. Once you know it makes you feel bad every time you lite up. After you quit you begin to learn how someone who don't smoke feels. Freedom. Freedom from addiction is very powerful.

Well this is probably about my 10th or 11th try at this. So this chic is a slow learner. I've tried just about everything
they have or had for quitting. Think there is only one way. Allen Carr's book and cold turkey. DJ
