Great post Stickin. You are so right. So many times I tell people to take it just five minutes at a time! It is so important. So many times, just getting through the next few moments was the key to success. If you are having trouble, reach out. No matter where you are in your quit. We all have our days. It is perfectly normal to struggle. Sometimes you need an attitude adjustment and there is usually someone around that cares just enough to give it to you. This is such an awesome place to be. I have missed being around here and seeing all my cyber friends. I didn't realize how much. Stickin... Thanks for starting this post. stick to it, This is a great post, and lend a helping hand is more powerful than you ever thought. Just that one line reminded me of the program I have going in my small Community. Since I quit smoking, I have started a non-smoking program in my Community. This is the most rewarding thing that has ever happened to me. I really didn't start it, when people heard I had quit smoking they wanted to know how I did it. So I guess it just got dropped in my lap. This was a scary situation, I thought what in the world have I got myself into. This was Aug, 2006 I was just over 6 months quit. So I started printing posts off of SSC. I have 16 in the class now, and we meet two times a week. I spend a lot of time preparing for the two nights. That is the reason I don't spend as much time on SSC as I would like. Because I need to be fed also. You're right reach out to others and you will be rewarded. Well said, stickintoit: Sometimes it does seem as though one would have to be a superhero to quit this damned addiction. But you're right. If you look around, we all know of people who we thought would or could NEVER quit, yet they did. Thanks for the reminder. Ordinary People Quit You may personally know of people or at a minimum heard of people who quit smoking. I have known of few dozen throughout my years, some young in their twenties, thirties and forties, and some middle aged in there fifties and sixties. These people have managed to quit and stay that way. They are ordinary people that found a way. Your way, when the urge strikes might be to tell yourself that smoking is not an option and I had better find some other way to handle this crave. Handle craves with a distraction of one kind or another. Take the quit journey one day at a time. Even if you did like puffing, in a relatively short amount of time you will realize that there is nothing special about smoking. It is important to take in one day at a time, not to think ahead, why? You may overwhelm yourself and give in. Do it day by, the days add up fairly quickly and you find that smoking is something that you can live without. We are all shepherds on this journey to everlasting freedom. Stay determined, motivated and positive. Great quit to you!
