NEED HELP NOW!!!!

So, is your problem smoking or drinking, i am kinda confused. It seems that if you can't drink without a cigarette well than don't drink. Until you get thru the stages where you are secure enough and feel strong enough, stay away from the triggers. That's what i did and was recommended by others to do that who have done the same. And be careful, not to trade one addiction for another. So, what should I do. I had a cig. I know there are more important soccer games coming up, and I need to have beer watching them. should I just not smoke until a game comes up, and drink and have a few. I can do that. please, give me your advice. My major crutch is drinking during an important sporting event. Other than that, I think I can do it. Please, need your advice. I have to quit after the champions league is over. Its the top teams from europe playing in a huge tournament. I am weak when I drink. I had a cig tonight. I feel awful about it. I am not strong. I have to wait until it is over. I don't have to smoke at work or anything. Just during a big sporting event. I love soccer, but watching soccer i need a beer especially when Liverpool is playing. I am sorry. I will try again. One good thing about this site is that we can disagree with each other. I don't think you should drink another beer. You've already identified it as a trigger for you. Don't do anything that might threaten your quit in its precious early days. We're all here with you as your back-up crew. No doubt the first few days are tough...and you are right: it is a mental battle as well as a physical one. But look at it this way. Every minute that goes by, you are healing. Every minute that passes, you are that much closer to being a non-smoker. You are doing a very good thing for yourself! You can beat this addiction...it takes work, guts, and a determination that you will not fall under the spell of a bunch of poisonous weeds wrapped in a piece of paper. Hey buddy! I always snacked when I had a beer my first few days!!! Yes, I gained about 7 pounds so far, but I haven't had a smoke!!!! I didn't change my drinking habit because of my quit! I knew that I might want to have a cancer stick with a beer, but I just told myself that was not an option!!! I still have one or two beers every evening and yes it is somewhat a trigger for me, but dog gone it, I'm not going to give up everything that I love because of the nicodemon!!! Look that sucker right in the eye and tell him to be gone!!! Then take a couple of deep breaths and enjoy your beer!!!! I'm going to go home and do just that right now!!!! Give that nicodemon hell, buddy!!! I stopped the beer, brushed my teeth and just staying on here until the craving goes away. The craving now, it is at a 10. Way up there. I can see Walgreens across the street. Tough, not going anywhere though. Its all in my head. I don't care about feeling spacey or any of that, what is bothering me is the mental aspect. I had 2 beers, I need a smoke. That part is going to be tough My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12 Amount Saved: $3.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 29 Seconds: 20

Ok,, this will pass... I promise it really will.. get an ice cube or ice chip and suck on some ice.. Write down the reasons you are Quitting.. Keep telling yourself I Quit.. NOT one puff ever.. I am addicted to nicotine.. and there is NO such thing as one puff or just one cigarette.. once you feed the nicotine demon... you will have to continue... and continue and continue. I found some corn chips with lime and chili flavor help.. Mentol cough drops (although i must say that sounds pretty yucky with beer... ). Go back to the ice chips.. and really cold water... turn the Negatives into positives.. take some really deep breaths.. ahhh hold ...let out.. do this a few times.. don't get dizzy and pass out.. do some jumping jacks... I chew on almonds too... Let's list some things you can do right now: 1. Open up the Quit Program tools and start working on the workbook. 2. Google "nicotine addiction" and see what kind of information you can find. 3. Start a Quit Journal and write down all your reasons for quitting. 4. Drink a whole bottle of cold water. 5. Go for a run or for a walk. 6. Write another post to us telling about yourself and why you want to quit. 7. Make a reward plan: how will you reward yourself for 3 days, one week, etc.? 8. Put on some mellow music and do some stretches or some yoga. 9. Call a friend and enlist them to be your quit buddy. 10. Read through all the posts here and respond to them. There's 10 for you...what else can you do? Just don't smoke!
