Deck Ask yourself if you want to go through this again then you won't even think of smoking! Deck, Put the blankets over your head and hang on! There are many here who have suffered from some sort of depression in the midst of their quit. You will get through this. We are all entitled to an opinion about quitting; some of us are very anti quitting with nicotine replacement, others have a view of whatever it takes. I have my own views, but that's not important right now. The key point is that you come here, contribute and debate. Take that away and it leaves us with an SSC with far less value. Take care and stay quit! All the best :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 733 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,990 Amount Saved: 5,497.50 Life Gained: Days: 119 Hrs: 10 Mins: 58 Seconds: 44

Hang in there Deck. I know it must be tough, but hold on to whatever positive thoughts you can. Get yourself well and then, when you're stronger, deal with the issue regarding your partner. Smoking will not take any of the pain away ..... One day at a time ok? Deck, what can i say. I found that there have been some... shall we say 'issues', that I've had to work through as a non-smoker that only existed due to me ignoring them as a smoker. Hope things work out for you. Deck, Lots of great replies thus far. Please remember that smoking is not the answer and although it may be tempting to fall back into old habits, if you keep pushing through you'll have passed the biggest test! Although your regular distractions aren't present, you can certainly find other ways to occupy your time. Any time spent not smoking is time well spent! Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

So sorry you're going through such a rough patch Deck, but I always believe things happen for a reason. A test of your resolve? Perhaps. But remember one thing - non-smokers have rough patches too and they find different ways to cope. They always have. Choking down a nic stick doesn't wrap you in a bull****-proof forcefield. More tough days will come. Days when you feel you'd do just about anything to try and feel NORMAL again. How will you cope with those? Time to find out. So deep breath, get under the covers and forget about the world if you need to for a day. Dig deep, remember your reasons for quitting and lay it out here. Plenty of ears listening and arms giving you that great big ol' virtual hug ((((Deck)))). Keep us posted. x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 410 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,430 Amount Saved: 2,255.00 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 22 Mins: 50 Seconds: 29

Deck, with you posting tells me you want this quit more than you want to smoke. That being said sometime it would be nice to be "normal". Now what is normal for us and normal for others can be miles apart. What I have found is that inhaling poisons is not normal. Yes there are times it feels more "normal" to find comfort in those things called cigarettes, but they will only intensify what is already going on and add to your distress. Be kind to yourself, you can do that. Put the rest in the hands of a higher being. You are doing just fine. Hugs Deck, Life is like a box of....To quote Forest Gump. I felt similar to you several times when I first quit. I yearned for normal too (what ever that is) and I missed having something to reach for. You are right about regreting it if you smoke now. That is exactly what kept me going. I didn't want to disappoint me. I had enough disappointing things going on in my life that I certainly was not going to add to it. The only thing I could control was my quit and Thank God I still have it.
