My head is trying to talk me out of this quit.

You're in heck week. After hell week, you can do this. i have a secret for you - that's not your head talking. it's nicodemon. He is very charming, I know. Read some old posts on our friend nicodemon, some of the people here have been quite eloquent on the rearing of his ugly head. Your head was the one that made the choice to quit smoking (and it was a very smart decision). Now, just make sure your hands don't betray your head by inserting any poisons into your body while you're not looking. This was always a bad time for me. Days 8,9 and 10. The chatter is loud and the reason to smoke so strong. It is your choice to smoke or not. I can tell you it is not fun starting over and over and over. Stay away from the smokers if you can. Tell yourself why you are quitting. Do you like the way smell now? Of course you do. Nothing smells worse than a smoker :gasp: Drink water, breath, come here and read. Pray, if you choose to. We will be here for you not matter what!!. Keep strong and keep the quit. Hillary, Just BREATHE. Believe me (cause I just recently blew it) a puff isn't worth it. It just doesnt cut it anymore. Avoid walking past them if you can. YOu can do this Hugs Kim My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 38 Amount Saved: $4.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 15 Seconds: 13

Thanks, Kim. I'm working on it. For the next hour or so, I am not allowed to get out of this chair. Then maybe I'll head out to the gym or something. This is worse than day 3! Reading the posts has helped calm me down. Thanks for the support! -HIllary My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 286 Amount Saved: $54 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 41 Seconds: 58

I have a long break in between classes today, and having trouble watching the smokers parade in and out. Every time I walk around on campus, or hang out with all of my friends, or go driving, or want a break from studying, I can't believe I gave it up. My head is trying to convince me that I'll only be in school another year and I can keep smoking while I'm here (I'm going to be a teacher, so really bad to be smoking then) and just quit again later. I keep trying to remind myself of all the good things I like to not smoking, how much fun I'm having excercising and how my teeth are getting cleaner and how my skin is clearer, but none of that is matching up to a cigarette and wanting to quit quitting. Any suggestions???? Please???? Thanks, guys, for all the support. I'm feeling better than I was an hour ago, and reading through the site has helped quite a bit. I'm gonna go hit a dance class at the gym until next class. I probably should sit and study, but hey. I'm not real trustworthy with the free time right now, apparently. Thanks again! I'm still here ;-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 286 Amount Saved: $54 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 45 Seconds: 21

Hilary, Junkie talk! The nicodemon is trying to get into your head! You know you made the right choice and you are doing so well with your smoke free life and body. Use your mechanisms and really push them away by occupying yourself. Reward yourself for a job well done. Perhaps taking it goal by goal will help. Make a goal of another 2 weeks or even one week. Once you reach this goal, reward yourself and set up another goal. Post often and keep us updated, we would love to celebrate with you :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
