I work at home, so I would have a cig in between seeing clients. At first I would head upstairs for a drink of cold water or a peek in here, now I don't even go upstairs many times.
Cooking has always been a trigger. I used to take breaks in between steps of big meals, and always one before I ate. For a while I'd have an out loud conversation about it, e.g., "Yes I want a smoke, but I'm not going to have one" "Why?" "Because I'm a nonsmoker and nonsmokers don't smoke, that's why!" "Oh, I see." Said loudly enough and with enough emphasis, it would convince me...or make me start laughing. Now I just note them and go on.
