Sam, You are certainly not alone. I have felt this same sense of loss a few times since I have quit. As Lady has said, smoking was a large and consuming part of our life. Quitting means, not only changes for us physically and mentally but, lifestyle changes. When I'm feeling the void,I found it helpful to stay busy and switch up my routine as much as possible. If I am ever at a loss for something to keep me busy, my very unorganized closets and drawers are always calling me and my dogs will never turn me down for a walk. Mostly, I have tried to add as many new adventures and activities to my life. Like trying new restaurants,taking walks in new parks and nature trails,going to plays and musicals,taking classes, and new for me, going to movies. Be sure to continue to add some fun to your routine! Congratulations on 19 days!! One way to look at it is that you now have more time to do what you want to do and not what mr nic wants you to do. Sam, Often quitting is described as a grieving process. Smoking consumed every bit of our beings. It determined where we went, why, what we did, for how long, etc... Congratulations on your 19 days quit! Rewards are very important in the process. Be good to yourself and give yourself time to feel, grieve, change, and get used to the new non-smoking you. It takes some time to adjust. Allow it to happen and you will be happy with the results. Just remember NOPE (not one puff ever) no matter what! Hey Sam2007! What you're feeling is very typical. We have all gone thru it and yes it is a stage. And yes, you need to reward yourself for doing so well! You're almost at three weeks! The hardest part is behind you and even though you have the odd day of discomfort, (as non smokers do too) You are on your way to a wonderful freedom! I'm into day 19 and feeling a really huge sense of loss in my life. I feel like I'm constantly searching .. for what ? Am I going through a grieving phase ? Anyway, these feelings have been gnawing away at me for the last few days and I keep shoving them down, down, down.. So I think what I'm going to do is this - Here's the plan: Going out with a friend for lunch today :) While I'm out I'm going to pick up my 3 week reward a few days in advance ;) I honestly believe that there's a huge void and I'm been filling it on a daily basis, but I need something that's going to give me a 'rush'.. so what better way than to buy oneself a present ! I'm quite sure many people feel a sense of grieving, a loss, a void. What did you do if you felt any of these things ? Now I'll get all prettied up ;p and my ride will be here in a little while.
