That's brilliant, Tom. It's exactly the way it goes for so many of us. I'm so glad I used a lifeline! It's the game where you progress to another level by having all the answers. There are life-lines to help you along the way. They will help you leave with what you have at that point of the game. Remember, you can lose it all anytime your luck runs out. Here are some of the answers to get you started... - Level 1: I'd like to quit. It's just not convenient for me right now. I already have enough stress in my life without going out and looking for more. It brings me pleasure and relaxation and I don't want to give that up right now besides, cancer doesn't run in my family. They've never really proven that smoking causes cancer in people who don't already have the genetic markers. - Level 2: I want to quit. So many people have done it and they are making it so hard to continue smoking. I wish they'd come up with a way to get me there without any hassle. And if I do quit won't that be endorsing all this tax and rules nonsense? Wouldn't that be giving into people that want to run my life? I'll go on smoking and pay the taxes. They must be fools if they think they can tax me away from smoking. - Level 3: I need to quit. It's become so expensive to keep doing this. I used to be so healthy and hardly ever caught even a common cold now I'm running to the doctor every couple of months and it's getting expensive. I think the doctors are profitting more than the politicians on smokers. It's all the pollution from cars and factories, not smoking. I may be a little more sensitive to the pollution because I smoke, but it's not the smoking by itself. - Level 4: I've got to quit. The doctor told me I have COPD and it will likely develop into emphysema and disable me. Quitting now may stop this from getting worse but there's already a lot of damage I will have to live with. Maybe it's just not worth it. The quality of my life from here on only MAY improve if I quit, it MAY not. What if I go through all the pain of quitting and it only gets worse? I'll cut down instead. Quitting will only make more stress and weaken my immune system. I sure don't need that right now. - Level 5: Jackpot! It just doesn't matter anymore, you've successfully reached the end of the game! To use a life-line you just have to recognize it then reach for it. Here's a hint, the SSC is a life-line. Cut your losses and leave the game now. Do you really want what's behind the door on level 5? Aren't you tired of playing the game? Do you really believe the answers anymore?
