Yay Moss!!!!!! Remember to drink lots of ice cold water...it really does help. Come here and post for help if you need it (make a new thread with the word Help in it). Then take a walk or a shower, come back and most likely somebody will be here ready to talk you through the crave if it hasn't already passed. Print out a list of reasons why you are quitting and keep reviewing it. I'm looking forward to accompanying you on this journey. Welcome Moss!!! Way to get in the game!! This is where you need to be; you can live here (smokeless that is). The help you need to be successful is at your fingertips. Students can be irritating under the best of circumstances, don't know if there's much here for you there other than the experience of other teachers here on the sight that have been where you are. I wish you all the best. Please let me know if there's something I can do for you. Hey Moss, it happens. Chantix will help your emotions after the first 7-10 days - give yourself a major break, this is a hard thing you are doing, be kind to yourself. Sleep, rest, reward yourself - every day if that is what it takes, even if a reward is starbucks or chocolate, exercise, and really pamper yourself. Set up your weapons also, fresh fruit, mints, nuts, cold water, don't let yourself get Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired (H.A.L.T.). Finally stay close, read and post here or just read, I spent hours here. Moss, I never crave now, haven't in ages, you will get here too. Just keep quitting. Mossman Glad to hear you're taking this seriously and you sound determined to be successful. Chantix has helped many of us, me including, to quit. I'd suggest timing it so your first few days ncotine free is without students, if you can. That way you can get through those first few days doing whatever you need to do - resting, staying on here all day, walking, running, screaming, taking a million showers. Whatever it takes. The nicotine will be out of your body after three days, but the rest of dealing with the addiction takes a while longer. It's a good thing it takes you so long to type. That's 30 minutes you aren't smoking. I pretty much lived here the first few weeks and months. I figured it was better than smoking. When you're feeling cranky take a few deep breaths, calm you body, and then, if you have to, excuse yourself for a few minutes. You can do this!!!!! We all are proof of that. btw, I wish you'd keep the name...that's one of my son's nicknames :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 240 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,600 Amount Saved: $1,632.00 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 13 Mins: 5 Seconds: 37

Hey Moss -- Know just how you feel. Told non-smoking family members how quitting was like losing my best friend and they thought I was crazy. Felt miserable and thought I'd never feel happy again. It can be really bad at first, but does get better. I used chantix also. It dulled the heavy cravings those first few tough days, but I still felt like a complete zombie for awhile. And the nausea on chantix can be tough. I took it with food, but would get an upset stomach like clock-work about 20 minutes after taking it. It's tough to learn how to do everything again without the smokes. But you can do it. Make the decision you won't smoke, no matter what. Stay close and keep posting about how you're doing.
