Hey, Cat. I don't know if I qualify as being here for a long time, but I do know that just like our quits are different, our reasons for being here are different.
There are some people who found that being here made them think of smoking too much, or caused them to focus on the quit itself rather than their new non-smoking lifestyle. Those people sometimes leave altogether but more commonly, they check in once in awhile to see how things are going.
Others leave for a period of time & then come back because they feel they have something to offer newer quitters, or they want to celebrate their healthy new lives with people who can understand.
I'm still here because I still get inspiration and support from the true long-timers & some of the newbies, I have friends here that I like to check in with, & I want to help others the way I was helped. I want to show that quitting should be a positive thing, you can be happy about it & have fun while you do it.
I don't think Iwould be quit today without this site, it made me see quitting in a whole new light and it helps my quit to pass that along.
Keep up your quit, Cat, you're doing great.
