Today's The Day

I was like you. I didn't smoke in the morning and was surprised at how I thought of little else when I gave up - even at times when I wouldn't have smoked. The fuddled head thing is v. common. I was on a high really and went round in a haze. Then, about day 3, I decided to 'come out' about my stopping smoking and told EVERYONE I met in a garbeld rush. I'm sure they thought I was mad. Good advice to take things slow and steady and do one thing at a time. IT'S WORTH IT. Way to do it, NH2Q! I know quitting is hard work and it takes a while before we've got it beat but, I always have believed if I could make it one day I could make it forever. I still believe that. (I've learned to be more careful now but that's a whole other story)The first day is the hardest but, once you get past it knowing you CAN live through a day w/o smoking, you are given a realization and strenght that will propel you going forward. It is an awesome feeling! I'm so happy for you! Yay!!! Well Made it past one of the craziest days of my life...or so it seems.. I am winding down for the evening going to go and put my girls to bed then sit with my feet up and watch my favorite soap(I have it taped). I kept myself busy all evening, wiped the dust off the treadmill, laudry, homework...It isn't quite bed time but I will make it. I only smoke downstairs in my house so I have to avoid going down there and i should be ok. Thank you all again for today it was very encouraging and some great advice which I am sure I will have to be reminded of tomorrow again....will post again in the AM if I make it through the night ;) ...kidding I am sure I will My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 1 Mins: 42 Seconds: 39

Needhelpto quit.. Welcome Hope your evening is going well.... It was harder for me in the evening, too.. I found myself posting & reading a lot. I also spent time researching nicotine addictions.. it really helped me understand what was going on.... Welcome to SSC NeedHelptoQuit! You're doing great on your first day smoke free! Pat yourself on the back and do something nice for yourself tonight! Evenings were also extremely difficult for me, also. Stay close to the site, read, post, drink cold water, eat hard candy.....anything but smoke. Let us know if we can help in any way. WOOHOO!!! nh2q!! Look at you go on day 1!! You said your craving was at its "worst" at work today and you got through that, so know you can get through your triggers at home too! The treadmill sounds like a great idea!
