Hi Faith and Welcome, I would rather be sailing than on the fence. Can you share your reasons for wanting to quit? And what reasons are driving the desire to smoke? What coping skills did you have in mind? Welcome Faith. Please look at the tool at the left and work them. As long as your desire to stay smoke free today is stong then you on are your way. When you wake up in the morning recomitt to staying smoke free that day. Do that every day and walla you will be smoke free. Write a list of why you want to quit. Now make a list of the good thing that are happening to you because you are not smoking. Like you smell better, you are starting to feel better, your breath is better, get the idea? Welcome, you (we) can do this. Hi there, I've been lurking in the background since May and I've probably made as many as a dozen attempts to quit since then. Today I am trying to take an honest look at why I keep allowing myself occasional uses of tobacco and I have decided that this on and off again thing HAS to stop. Today I have decided to discontinue all lapses. I keep reading that until my desire to quit is stronger than my desire to smoke I will not be sucessful. To be totally honest I don't know if that will ever happen for me. I DEFINITELY have a desire to quit. I also have a huge desire to smoke. INSANITY!!!! I'm hoping that as each day passes that my desire to stay smokefree will become stronger than my desire to smoke. I am using the patch. I have tried cold turkey and its not been a pretty thing for those around me. I can't even stand who I become! So, I just thought I'd say hello and make this website part of my recovery. I hope that someday I will be able to give support to a newcomer but for today I really need some support.
