That could very well be, Bear. I know there are some others here who would agree that there is no demon & no junkie either, that we are somehow not taking responsibility, or putting our addiction at arms' length from ourselves by using those terms.
Of course I know that I am the junkie, I'm not delusional, but it just helps me to give it a personality & make it separate from me. I have an easier time feeling positive & not as if I'm denying or depriving myself of something. I really don't think anyone here can honestly say I haven't taken responsibility for my quit or faced up to my addiction.
Maybe it doesn't make sense & I know it's just a silly little game I play with my own mind but it works for me & if it ain't broke, I ain't fixin' it. :)
