Ms. Lady, It's so good to see you still in here spreading your knowledge! It's true, you are here to help us new comers and in turn you are helping yourself b/c like u said it is a 1 day at a time deal, period. Thanks to our friendship continuing even after I let the junkie back in, I can't help to think that I may not be back here quitting again. It goes to show that what goes around truly comes back around. It's just nice when it comes back from the same people, lol. GOD put ladybugg back into my life on the 4th to put a couple buggs in my ear, lol. I love your picture! I've never seen that one! Ok, so all I can say is I'm glad to be back, whether it's a temporary quit or a final quit remains to be seen. But anytime quit is better than none. I've learned to find some balance and stop taking everything to the extreme. In my last quit I just knew with every fiber of my being that it was my final quit. I've learned that no matter how much I think I know something or how well I think I know myself, there's always more to learn, lol, and more and more and more! Life's about progress NOT perfection. Learn & live. Live & grow. UP's and down's, etc, etc, etc. We've got to stop being so hard on ourselves and just do our best. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Sam, Let's face it. Quitting sucks! I understand so well because it was hell for me to quit. I've been there. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately you have to walk along that road less traveled to get through all the withdrawals. There isn't a magic pill or an easy way out. You must endure the uncomfortable moments. Trust me when I say, it is worth every single miserable moment you are going through now. Keep marching towards freedom. newme, You made a great point. Quitting is a "choice". Each day we recommit not to smoke "just for today" (or 5 minutes if that's what it takes). In time that choice becomes so easy like putting on your socks. You just get use to it and begin to live that smoke free life. What an awesome life it is. Unhooked, posting here saved me more than twice. Posting here and hanging on tight is what got me through those first few months that seemed impossible. Quitting isn't impossible. It is very doable. One step at a time. Absolutely true, Lady. I have been saved twice from letting the junkie convince me to have just one, by posting here then taking a bath, then coming back for responses. Coming to this site is the biggest favour I have ever done for myself & the best gift to my family and friends. Those words are very true to life, Lady. I have rationalized myself into having "just one" so many times, i can't even count. That is ALWAYS the beginning of the end of that quit. This site has been a wonderful aid to me in my quest to stay absolutely smoke free...and I have, for 40+ days, not ONE puff. It is a daily choice, and when we are weak, frazzled, mad, upset, the people on this site can help us make that right choice..NOT ONE PUFF EVER. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 41 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 984 Amount Saved: $205.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 17 Mins: 2 Seconds: 35

Quitting is tough stuff. We all know that. It takes courage to get going and determination to keep going. We are all addicts here. It really doesnt matter if you have been quit for 3 hours or 3 years. We are all just one puff away from letting the addiction control us again. There comes a point in the quit were we begin to feel the freedom from the enslavement that smoking brought to our lives. The only way to reach this freedom is to keep taking it one day at a time, one step at a time. There is a process we each go through in order to be quit. That process is easier for some than others but it is necessary. You will not make it to freedom if you give in to the junkie thinking or addictive behavior. Each time you smoke you are starting the process all over again. If you give in to the junkie then the next crave will be twice as hard to resist. This is a dangerous game to play. If you are in a position that you feel you cant go on, POST a thread. ASK for help. Those of us that have been here for a while stick around so that we can help others who are struggle with the addiction. We want to see you break free. People - PLEASE. If you have having a hard time, post BEFORE you smoke. If you dont get a lot of responses or dont find the solution you need, POST AGAIN. Choose another forum if you think it will help. The fight for freedom is long and it is hard but it is worth it. Do not give up on yourself. You can beat this addiction. Take a lot of deep breaths, drink water, learn all you can, and find a quit buddy to lean on. Quit buddies will save you from yourself when you need it most. They are probably the most important part of the quit process. Hang in there and dont give up the good fight. You are fighting for your life and it is worth it.
