DH and I went to a 4th of July event last night, we were parked on the road with folks in our town and we decided all of them must smoke. We didn't know where to go to avoid it, there was no where smoke free outside. A year ago we would have been among them with no thought or consideration to non-smokers, it is ironic. In The Guardian there's a letter from someone saying that they had to leave the outdoor seating area where they were having coffee and go INSIDE for a breath of fresh air. I just think that the idea of 'banning' smoking was great except that there are those people who INSIST on still lighting up!! :eg: Gen My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,584 Amount Saved: 495.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 3 Mins: 35 Seconds: 57

Here in Ohio they banned smoking but did not put anything in there about distance from entry ways. Wish they would have like Utah and Arizona set a distance. Though most businesses are putting out large planters with sand in them so the smokers have somewhere to put them. Like we ever cared where our butts went. In a way it's funny to see how many smokers can fit in an entry way at once when its pouring rain. Interesting post Phil, it's cool to see how other states and countries deal with this differently. Well done Phil! Being a Times reader, I wouldn't have seen this, though Wilbur sometimes uses a copy of the Telegraph in my barn to protect against any 'spillages' :eg: I'll ask him to save me a copy :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 507 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,210 Amount Saved: 3,802.50 Life Gained: Days: 81 Hrs: 10 Mins: 59 Seconds: 49

Phil, we are not worthy, we are not worthy (bowing in a Wayne and Garth manner) :) That exact part hasn't been planned very well has it? However, at my local, you had to hunt for staff to get served before the smoking ban anyway. On the cigarette front, imagine 100 smokers, imagine how many cigarettes they get though on a night at the pub. Now take all of them and stick them just outside the door in a random heap. You get the picture. All premises should have been provided with at least a couple wall mounted metal bins. It'll be interesting to see what it will be like 100 days from now.
