Hi baby, Have you done the program on the left? Have you considered nicotine lozenges or nicotine gum or even the patch? If you slip again this quit, maybe you should consider some kind of quitting aid. A small amount of nicotine would still get to the baby. You should discuss it with your Doctor. Quitting is hard, but thousands of people on this site have done it, so you can too. We are just ordinary folks like you, trying to get this horrible addiction out of our lives. You will be so relieved, baby, when you no longer smoke. The freedom is well worth the trials we go through to get there. Stay in touch and yell if you need support. Make a deal with yourself that you will not smoke until you post here at SCC and get at least 5 answers back. Then, the craving will have pasted and you will make it one more hour without feeding that nicotine monster in your brain. He dies a slow death, but you are stronger than him! Remember, the craving will pass whether you smoke or not, so don't smoke! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 456 Amount Saved: $95.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 21 Seconds: 11

Congrats on your decision to quit. Here is a place you can feel comfortable and have people understand your circumstances, not bash them. Quitting smoking could be compared to having a baby. When you go into labor, the contractions, pains, and everything else that goes with it makes it all worthwhile in the and you forget about all that when you get to hold that newborn. Greatest feeling in the world. OK I know I am a guy and don't know the exact pains women go through when having a baby, nor would I like to feel those pains neither. Just being there with my wife when she was having our kids only gave me a little insight as to what you ladies go through and I could only imagine. I do know the joy of holding a newborn and the enjoyment and excitement that goes along with that. Quitting smoking and the negative effects may take a little longer, but in the end the feeling of freedom and accomplishment outways any of the negatives. Good luck with both adventures. Hang in there... it really does get easier!! And I think pregnant women get to have rewards for two, don't they!? So plan somthing smashing as a reward at the end of the week, the end of the moth, etc. You and the baby deserve it. Baby, Welcome to our support community and congratulations on the anticipated arrival of a new little one :) The members have given great advice ( as usual) and we can help you every step of the way. We are here to support and share our experiences, we will not judge you. You have made an important choice for you and your child and this is commendable. Start making a list of activities, hobbies, and chores that you can accomplish, use this as your coping mechanisms and reward yourself for every milestone you achieve. Gum, candy, sleep, making up the baby's room and shopping can all help with keeping you occupied. Check with your doctor, if you are having a tough time and let them help you with ways to progress :) Looking forward to hearing from you :) Josie, Support Specialist

Hey Baby, Just keep thinking about all the positives of being a non-smoker. Whether pregnant or not, smoking is a selfish disease. Smokers not only put themselves at risk but also hurt the people around them. As a smoker, I always thought that if I smoked outside that I was only hurting myself.... Wrong. I have learned that I was being selfish. My son especially often stated to me that he was afraid that I was going to die. That is pretty scary for a child to have to think about. Could I get mad at the schools for teaching children that smoking kills? No.... The thought of my children being afraid that I am going to die because of something I was doing really scared me. I also try to think about the fact that God gave me healthy lungs and what was I doing with them?????? SELFISH... There are so many people out there who are born unable to breath properly, have cancer or some other horific disease. I am on day 10 and although some days are really difficult it is great to consider myself a non-smoker. Take care My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 250 Amount Saved: $150.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 57 Seconds: 18

Hi, Baby. Congratulations on both fronts, the new baby & your decision to quit. There is no bashing here, & you are neither pathetic nor a loser. The reason you feel like a junkie is because you are one, just like we are. You are in the right place for help & support & encouragement. I know I could not have made it this far without this bunch of nutbars! The withdrawal symptoms & cravings will ease up after a few days, try to stay positive & think about what you are gaining rather than what you are giving up. The program to the left worked for me & you should give it a try. Don't give up, Baby. You can do it. You know My first day of freedom was yesterday also. I was so excited to make that 24h mark and I did. You should be too. Just like Lolo said. One day at a time. Every morning wake up and say i am not going to smoke today. Dayu 2 seems hard to me too but everything I read says after day 3 it gets easier. You can do it too. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 24 Amount Saved: $5.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 26 Seconds: 38
