Well now you have lots of friends to support you when you need it! :) Just keep in mind that there is an awful lot of information on this site, and it's recommended that you take whatever you can use, and just discard the rest. We have all discovered that education is a major component of the quit. The more you know, the less desire you have to light up again. Everyone's quit is different, and everyone has a different definition and expectation of support. You can be as active or as passive as you want to be, whatever keeps you from smoking. If you get a chance, read Lady's post "Climb the Mountain" and the Avoiding Relapse thread by Joe Cool. They are two of my favorites, and I think should be required reading. Good luck, stick around, we are here to give you whatever support you may need! Perhaps they are worried about their own quits. What I am saying Fly, is depend on us, let us be your help. Sometimes too, when someone is depressed others don't know what to say, or what to do. Glad to hear you are seeing your Doc. It is so worth staying quit because you are going to feel so much better soon! Week by week there has been an improvement and I do hope you will hang in there to find out how wonderful it feels! But in the end, this is all about you! You are the most important factor here. You have to look after you and your quit, and if you can't, come talk to us! We will help! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,550 Amount Saved: $1,076.10 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 14 Seconds: 1

Actually, my two main supports are people who quit the same day as I did. One is my partner, who has smoked as long and as heavily as I have. The other is my sister, who has smoked just a little longer. I think the need for some increase in support is due to the depression ... and the lack of support is serving only to feed the depression ... a vicious circle that I must try to escape if I want to retain any hope of success. Don't blame them so much Fly, I really don't think that they realize whay we are going thru unless they are smokers going thru it or have gone thur it themselves! My Hubby is lets say "tolerant". He quit 32 years ago. I don't expect any more of him because he ahs no idea what this quit feels like for me! Only I do! So just keep hanging here, that is what makes this place sp special.....we understand...we are doing it with you! Keep your quit! Smoking is NOT an Option! NOPE! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,550 Amount Saved: $1,076.10 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 9 Seconds: 50

Thank you both, Nance and Laney By coincidence, I'll be seeing my doctor today - I have every intention of asking for her help. Any you are both correct - this is the only other support (other than myself) that I can count on right now - the others have all fallen by the wayside, unfortunately. Fly, We love ya Baby! That is why we are here! So just keep coming here and reading and posting. AS for feeling down, it is a normal part of quitting, but there are things that help. I read that Vitamin B complex helps with that, I tried it and it does work! So give that a try! If it gtes bad, then see your Doc. Your body is healing, there's a lot to go thru! But stay tough, it gets better and better and better, you will see! Hang in there! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,550 Amount Saved: $1,076.10 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 6 Seconds: 38

Fly! Hang in here with us! You are right in your assessment, but there is usually someone on this site that can be there for you real quick. If you make the subject something like "I need you now" or "Yelling real loud" to get our attention, you'd be surprised how quickly someone responds. Okay, so it may be 5-10 minutes, but that isn't a lifetime. You are right about the quit being a personal thing. But that's life, I think. The only one I can truly count on until my last breath is me. But as long as I have others around me, I will count on them, and maybe be disappointed, but then again maybe not. As for your depression, it is not uncommon. Please speak with your doctor (today, if you can) and discuss it. There are medications and therapies that can help you if you will only inquire. Just don't smoke. Okay, I read this at 11:45 and it took me 10 minutes to type it. See, someone is always here. Yell when you need help! The answer had better be me, because the more important it is for you to have solid, unwavering support for anything you want to do, the more important it is that you not place all, or most of (or any of??), your faith in others to help keep you afloat. In the end, there is only one person who will be there with you and for you, through thick and thin, no matter what the situation, no matter how difficult or unrewarding and that person is you, yourself. I made the mistake of investing a certain amount of the support I felt I would need to quit smoking in a few key people when the time came for me to call upon them in my first genuine hour of need, they were not there for me, and it nearly caused me to lose my footing completely and slip back to where I had started. Through sheer blinding stubborn refusal to fail and to let myself down, I managed to keep myself afloat for the relatively few hours it took for the nicodemon to pass through me but if I had insisted on waiting for one of my supports to come through for me, Id be an ex-non-smoker at this moment. Dont get me wrong its great fantastic even if and when others in your support group come through for you when needed its just folly to expect it and to hang your hopes on it. A very cynical view, perhaps but a harsh reality nonethless. I seem to have sunk into a state of severe depression, and I'm not sure whether or not I'll be able to stop the rapid downward spiral in time to save myself from falling back on nicotine addiction for comfort. I am trying.
