Experiencing meds "withdrawal"

Hi Susan-I quit the serzone because of some of the things that recently have been in the media concerning it and liver disease/failure. That would be a horrible side effect to have! lol thanks Taz for the yoga/vitamin advice.

Hi Krista, Two things that work really well for me are Yoga and meditation. It takes awhile to master them, especially meditation - when I'm anxious I find it hard to sit still for that. Also I find St Johns Wort tea a releif - its definately an aquired taste though. I'm currently trying various herbs and vitamins but don't feel they are doing what I want them too, but at least I don't have to go through side effects to find that out! I'm going to go to a Homeopath hopefully today to try something new so I'll let you know how I go with that. The other really helpful technique I use is careful breathing through the nose, it calms me right down. :)

Why did you quit taking the Serzone if it was working okay for you. I quit Celexa because I think it was actually beginning to make me feel quite ill and also not having any emotions etc.

Thanks soooooo much to those of you have answered my post. It is so good to know other people have shared these experiences.I am very much interested in the natural treatments anyone has tried..(such as vitamins, excercise, etc.)I don't want to start back on Serzone again, however it did work well for me and I only had 2 minor side effects in 2 years. It wasn't until I quit taking it that the problems began all over. And yes, I believe it would have been best to have been "weaned" off of it. It is like my body went into some sort of shock!! Today is a good day so far, I always wonder where/ when the next attack will hit though. Thanks again everyone!!

I too have suffered some horrifying side effects from withdrawal of Celexa. It took me a year to taper off and I am now 8 weeks into not taking any atall. I vow never to take them again but I am scared that I will have to because the anxiety is obviously still there. I too am trying to find alternative methods. I am taking fish oils and vitamin supplements. I do a daily relaxation tape and have tried EFT which is actually quite effective. I am waiting for a delivery of Relora ( hope I got that right). Hopefully that will work on any anxiety. What meds did you withdraw from and are you still suffering from the original reason you went on them?

Hello Kristabelle! Very interseting...I'm still trying to find the right meds for this frightening disorder.I wonder how many of the experts have experienced the panic attacks? Thanks for the info...this site is a good place to find support. ;)

Hi Kristabelle. Yes I also experienced horrible side effects going on and coming off meds. I personally think its about knowing your own body and how it handles things like chemicals, meds, foods etc. I once had a doctor who told me to stop the meds I was taking and to just swap to new ones on a higher doseage - I refused to do it in the end because I didn't agree with that technique. Another doctor I had said to very slowly build up your doseage, not to just take one full pill immediately, to start off with a little crumb then a little more the next day, till you get to half a pill then just keep doing the same thing until you get to the doseage you require - (same thing for coming off them) I found that method worked much better. I think its absolutely ridiculous that there are these 'experts' out there who think that its okay to stop a medication completly one day or to just swap to something else. I'm a firm believer that your body needs to be weaned on and off things and not shocked with new or higher doseages of chemicals. I had no joy with meds due to the side effects and refuse to use them ever again. I'm experimenting with natural medicine, herbs etc to see if theres something there that might help without causing all the side effects that traditional meds do. This may not work for everyone, some people may feel better on meds, but this is what works better for me. I hope you also find something that works for you. :)

I was wondering of anyone out there that has been treated with panic/depression meds ever experience "withdrawal" symptoms from stopping them?? I recently quit Serzone after being on it for 2 years. started immediately on Zoloft and was good for 1 week-then it hit. Nausea,no appetite, nervousness, anxiety, lots of problems. Now I am on nothing. Please share if you have ever experienced this.I fear side effects of meds but cannot get thru my days like this. I have been suffering from panic attacks off/on for 6 years. :quest:
