Great post Free Thanks Findin new ways of loving, caring and giving to myself have been key to me in keeping quit. Starting a physical regime helps a lot with stress. Hard to smoke in a swimming pool. And I totally get how helpful our support network can be. Thanks all of you out there you know who you are. Thanks Free! Great post Free. The emotional part of the quit was the hardest for me and took the longest too. You are absolutely right about coping skills. We have to develop them to handle the emotions that come about. I used these boards here to vent and get through some really tough emotional times in my quit. Having someone who understands and is patient enough to listen to you let it all out helps a lot too. We do eventually learn how to deal with the circumstances of life without smoking but it doesn't happen over night. It is all part of the quit process. Smoking is the comfort zone when struggles arise. Working through them without smoking is when we step up to the plate and accept the challenge of our new smoke free lives. Determination is the key tool in being successful. Thanks for this great post! wonderful post free, I still get teary every morning. But, it is nice to feel my emotions and go with them instead of stuffing them with nicotine. I am in the 100 day blahs right now, I think. I have started working out at the gym I belong to, but very sporadically. Most of my free time has been spent reading and posting on this site. Quitting smoking is the most challenging thing I have ever done. And, I'm still not a comfortable ex smoker. One day at a time. Free I missed this post earlier but now I have it. This is indeed an inspiration to me and reading your post put a tear in my eye. Dealing with emotions during a stressful situation is never easy. A lot of folks are keeping a journal on their new lives and how to live free from addiction. I am also writing a journal not on living but on how to die with dignity and purpose. I believe that it is a good way to go about the process of living. Please keep posting you do a great service to this or any site. Free, This is great and very true! You can also make a list of hobbies you would like to try and use these for those times. What has everyone else done now that you have free time? Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
